So I'm visiting Boston in one week time and I thought I'd ask if anyone on this forum can recommend a reasonable store in boston for TT equipment. I'm in need of shorts and shirts and maybe rubbers if on reasonable price.
If you don't know of a store, then which online store (based in USA) is reliable for sending stuff to my hotel in one week time?
thanks

There isn't a store, but if you go to BTTC (Boston Table Tennis Club) in Medford, Liang stocks a ton of stuff there. It looks like someone isn't keeping up the club's web site (again...) so PM me for more info. If you're looking for match play there are people there all the time. You need a car to get there, though.

You can also take the sub (to medford square), get off, take a bus (#95) and get off across the street from a fast food resturant (Burger King, I think and it is next to a U-Haul place and a car wash). The bus ride is mabe 1-1/2 miles from the station. It is maybe 5 minutes walking 400-500 meters to the club from where you get off the bus. Bus service varies from 20-30 minutes to an hour per bus. You jaywalk/jayrun across the street like playing FROGGER vid game from 80s, walk north a short 50-100 meters to Hicks st and walk the winding road uphill around to the back the small industrial park behind it all and on 2nd floor.
You pay $9 a day for play (unless it went up since 2009) A pile of 1800 + level players. I met a few fellow Gyopo there and had a blast.

Like I said...you need a car :P If you're looking to play there are more subway-friendly options.

I doubt there is a regular brick-and-mortar TT gear store in the entire New England... and I should know, I leave in Boston suburbia. Use colestt.com, tabletennisonly.com or zeropong.com and select fast delivery option - there are other web stores like megaspin.net, paddlepalace.com but they are usually much pricier. However, I can recommend you a very good active-wear tennis shirt - Under Armour Heatgear Draft T-Shirt. It's on sale at Dick's Sporting Goods stores right now for $24.95 instead of $39.99. Just bought one and I really liked how it felt on me when I played. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3986029 |
