Hello
Does anyone know where I can buy carbon from? I’d like to try and make a blade for myself but don’t know where to buy any carbon? Thanks |

TTD has a questions for blade makers thread for this kind of question.. maybe 5-6 custom blade makers actively participate on that thread.

sollercomposites.com. You need something around 200gsm, normally 3K tow.Fiber type is not that important,as long as it is standard modulus. They also have a 12K spread tow fabric that is similar to the Textreme fabric.Carbon/Kevlar is available also. Chinese Carbon is usually not much cheaper because they have to buy the carbon tow from Japanese companies(at least for the high quality stuff),plus the shipping is expensive.Carbon should be rolled/not folded and is therefore bulky to ship.

I use composite envisions . They sell some smaller quantity on eBay. They have everything from standard carbon , ALC, ZLC and even Textreme. For epoxy I use Aeropoxy . It’s expensive but last a long time and is the right viscosity to keep the weight down

My experience is the carbon always comes as flexible fiber. You wouldn't want a solid sheet...blade would be too stiff and hard

Here is a Taiwanese lead for actual ALC fabric: Just to be clear, Arylate fiber is Vectran. The problem for us small quantity users is that ALC fabric is of very limited use, so it is not commonly sold by retailers.Sometimes you get lucky and the weaver has a short roll(end of production run),or fabric with small flaws for sale at a bargain price.
