So I've noticed some blades are built kind of round, but a little eliptical in the longer direction, moving the sweet spot out and making your lever longer. Yinhe blades are more that shape. Obviously penhold.
Then other blades are shorter, but wider with more down by the flange. I'm assuming the sweet spot is closer. I really don't use that flange area much if I can help it...should I be? Is there a reason for that area to be wider? I see this in european brands. Donic, andro... They seem to be more for looping, and maybe when you see more blade out away from your hand, those play more defense? How would you measure the distance to the sweet spot? From the finger? Just from the bottom of the handle? Would you look for a biometrically optimal distance from the elbow? |
