Great match from the Austrian Bundesliga.

I've never seen a player with a long pips (I assume that is what he's got?) backhand play at the level of Amirreza. Maybe it was quite well suited against a proper modern defender like Weixing where an attacking backhand become less important but I can't see how that style would be anything other than a weakness against two winged attackers.

Interesting match... chen started off trying to drill him with attacks, causing himself to lose the first 2 games. Then, in a strange twist of fate, it was actually weixings most underappreciated (and little known) trait which won him the game... patience! He began waiting out the pips player, allowing abbasi to make many errors. And while abbasi started out strong barking like a maddog after each point, perhaps he suffered an adrenaline dump after beating the Great weixing 2 games in a row!

In the final set, no screams could be heard from abbasi as his focus noticeably waned - even stealing one of chens trademark moves... receiving a yellow card! Chens own ferocity picked up in the last few points, like an animal honing in on their sickened prey. Weakness was seen and weixing went for the throat, delivering a series of intense forehands, accompanied by his own boisterous cheers, to put abbasi down for good! The body language from each player said all we needed to hear.

As is not uncommon with pips players, they appear to have the upper hand for the first few games. Weirdness and some idiosyncrasies that throw off the enemy player.  But, once the opponent figures them out and makes adjustments the result is often as we see here!
