Lately I noticed Timo Boll switched to Primorac Carbon blade and it had good results in the German League. I have been playing mostly with Viscaria for the last couple of years and just turning 50 I realized my quickness is not there anymore. I transitioned to hard and low throw hybrid rubbers and it helped a bit but my setup is getting really heavy. I remembered long time ago loving the feel of the hinoki on my Photino blade so Timo's choice of Primorac Carbon sounded like a good idea. I purchased a 85gr FL PC paired with my regular hard hybrid rubbers and got some mixed feelings when playing with it. My flat hits are just crazy fast and unreturnable with great control. My serves are suffering a bit but maybe I just need time to adjust. The problem is the opening from slow no spin balls. I mostly get no grip if I go slow or i overshoot when going harder. I know softer rubbers may solve this but I love my hard hybrids and I'm thinking about switching to a Schlager Light what is the same construction just a thinner core so I can get a bit more flex for the opening loop. I would apreciate any imput and any impressions when playing with similar composition Butterfly blades ( Sardius, Schlager Carbon, Garaldia T5000, Primorac Carbon or Schlager Light) Also interested in what pros and cons i will have switching to a soft rubber like Yasaka Rakza 7 Soft on both sides vs. Rakza Z EH or Jola Dynariz ZGR or Dignics 09C? ------------- Robert Butterfly Timo Boll 40th Anniversary FH: Xiom OmegaV Tour / BH: Xiom Omega VII Euro |

In my opinion when you use a really hard blade like PC, hard rubbers does not match it. My training partner has always used a Donic Ovtcharov Carbospeed with soft rubbers. For some reason he decided to change his FH to Rhyzer Pro 50 and his game disappeared. Some issues were lack of spin, lack of control and general inconsistency. He went back exactly to Rakza 7 Soft and became a monster again, it´s like he moved from 1800 to 2400 just changing his FH rubber. If you ask which are the disadvantages of using soft rubbers on both sides of a Primorac Carbon I would say none.

PC is not a hard blade it has a soft feel due to the thick 1.2mm outer Hinoki ply but is rather stiff because its total 7mm thickness and the Tamca 5000 carbon. I hate the PC feel. I m looking for a blade similar to Tamca ULC.

What do you actually hate in the PC feeling? I'm curious if I had same or different problems than you... Is the thickness of the Kiri core affecting the loopability of the blade or you can loop just by using the rubber and the soft top ply? Is the core thickness just mainly affecting the power and speed of the blade or there is a noticeable difference in the flex of the blade? Amultart/Garaydia ZLC/Joola Nobilis are reasonable ZLC options that give a better feeling vs pure Tamca 5000 in Primorac Carbon.
