Matching gear is one of the most important (frustrating, time consuming, and costly) things you must do! I have done some research online, via interviews, and in-vivo and have come up with this formula. Please comment to support or challenge. I realize there are NO definitive way to pair up gear and everyone is different . . . blah, blah, blah, but in general, what do you think about the following:

Hard Blade+Soft Rubber:  No good (Bù Hǎo)

Hard Blade+Hard Rubber:  Good (Hǎo)

Hard Blade+Pips w/sponge:  Good (Hǎo)

Hard Blade+Pips w/o sponge: Very Good (hěn Hǎo)

Soft Blade+Soft Rubber:  Good (Hǎo)

Soft Blade+Hard Rubber:  Okay (Kěyi)

Med Blade+Med Rubber:  So So (mǎmahūhu)

The above refers to both FH and BH. It's true, you need to pair them up as well.

I don't think there is a good or bad for players. What is treasure to one player may be junk to another. It just boils down to what works best for their style and level. Everyone has their own definition of the word "good".

I realize this, but I'm looking for a general guideline. I initially wrote a disclaimer in my intro. :-).

What about speed matching?
Faster blade + slower rubber or Slower blade + faster rubber?

The end result of speed matching is about balancing speed and control.

Bing translator works quite well on Chinese

Reprint of an article from the net, how to pick bat article, say a little East of evil voice, specially posted here for early in the learning table tennis fans. Thanks to "Kung Fu Billiards" excellent writing style.

Classification:

To selected a to for themselves of racket, to considered "feel characteristics", and "play type" and "control master" this three area, in this here to "feel characteristics" for point, will floor classification for "pure wood splint class", and "feeding took class" and "cypress wood took class" three class; rubber (this here only discussion anti-rubber) is is divided into "astringent sexual rubber" and "viscous rubber" two class! Because I watch every ball because when you first feel the training, learning the ball around the environment, national billiard between different cultures, producing the general classification! For example: many of the balls is not used to feed, so the change in Exchange is pure wood floor and some friends favorite feeding speed of the ball and the ball, wood does not get used to it! Japan, South Korea, Taiwan cypress is the player most of mainland friends took the wood splint in the straight! Friends on the Mainland used adhesive rubber-dominated army rubber; Taiwan friends of hard rubber adhesive or de gel for most!

Personal feeling is that if it is your own "feel" doesn't like bats, no matter how good, how high the price of actual combat, most were soon changed! So humble opinion that "feel like" is very subjective and failed to consider first when, from the classification of their preference in the selection of suitable game types and the degree of their own skin, easy to find the right racket!

A, floor press:

1. wood splint class:
Wood floor planks using a wide range of, sandwich, number of clips vary, mainly, 5 clips for the mainstream, can be fine district is divided into the following categories:

(1). soft five folders: (Soft 5 plys)

Representative ~AC)(Stiga Allround Classic), AE(Stiga Allround Evolution), YE (Yasaka Extra)

Type of floor is best suited to beginners friends and hitting the floor not flexibility, Racquet hand seismaesthesia, feel great (feeling into the hand is great/good), when on the ball to shoot long, high fault tolerance, easy shot direction and strength!

Already has a base of friends, if you punch up, arc on both sides are playing not playing speed and one hit will kill (If you loop both sides and don't play only 3rd ball kill it's good), to require continuity appeal, consider soft five clips! Like STIGA bottom face of a larger, can also act as a chopping board! (you can also chop with it)

Disadvantages: floor take bad, medium and small power hitting speeds of less than, so most balls will need to vigorously fight, feel soft five clip manual!  (not much leverage/flex, you need to play with a lot of effort in slow and medium speed plays)

(2). hard five folders: (Hard 5 plys)

Representative ~ wood guitar (Nittaku Acoustic), storm King (DHS Hurricane King), YEO (Yasaka Extra Offensive)

In addition to maintain a wood outside the five clip ball bite and feel superior, bottom elastic, has the ability of leveraging, playing for arc and arc-fast! (In addition to the excellent feel of 5 plys, has high flex, more power and suitable for looping, long range power looping etc)

Disadvantage: in the era of inorganic, glue less ring after the blessing, pure absolute strength of wood five clip is from bad to worse after all, one hit will kill less dealed! Modified by so many professional players to play seven clips or shoot feeding wood to make up for the lack of speed and strength! Was no friend of the glue used, impact is not! (not quite enough power any more for professional players without speed glue)

(3.) thick five folders: (Thick 5 ply)

Representative ~andro kinetic off+,TBHAR alpha, TO

Most wood five clips of thick 6.0mm around or below, while a few several thickness of wood five clip above 6.5mm, this reduced to thick five clips.
Thick thickness of five clips almost even with most of the seven-the thickness of the plywood thickness, floor support and flexible enough, take better, also as seismaesthesia, feel it is not thin five clips, and good eats balls! Overall, the performance of balanced, punches and take good amateur ball friends, combat value is very high! (not as good hand feel as a thin 5 ply, more linear and less flex, easier to control for amateurs than the 2 speed highly flexible thinner 5 plys)

Disadvantages: the balance, no particular advantages disadvantages! No bending deformation of a thin five clips when hitting the punch, ball line, straight, unlike the thin arc of the five clips of strange two-speed and thief; absolute power is weaker than hard seven clips! Furthermore is thick with a thick, pellet die feel burnt, dexterity reduces!  (no particular advantages or disadvantages, no flex while blocking like a thin 5 ply which makes it easier to block, doesn't have the flex power or absolute power of a 7 ply)

(4). soft seven folders: Soft 7 plys

Representative ~DONIC PowerPlay, JOOLA Viva, Galaxy U1

POWERPLAY and Viva is ball-era classic film; U1 is a Galaxy in the era of inorganic launched a new pet. The small number of such floor, thickness of about 6.5mm, keep wood seven clips of support, control balls, bite balls better than hard seven favorites so hard play, hitting more tolerant! Amateur friends is easier to manage, high practical value!

Disadvantages: similar to a thick five clips, the balance there is little visible advantages! (Similar to thick 5 ply, no real advantage over them)

(5). hard seven folders: Hard 7 plys

Representative ~CL (Stiga Clipper), P700 (Avalox P700), bird (?)

Thickness 6.5mm or more, seven clips of early hard is mainly designed to make quick, suitable for sticking adhesive on one side playing, so the Board is hard and light weight does not; the big ball era of hard drive of seven clips are lightweight and soft power, suitable for playing fast and fast ARC-ARC!

Hard seven clips, take good enough supporting foot, absolute power, in the era of inorganic for more professional players use, recommended to enjoy the pursuit of speed and strength ball friends!

Disadvantages: difficult to control the ball, low fault tolerance, high entry threshold, new friend is not easy to manage, for a certain amount of balls!

2. feed class:

Rules for rackets on (bottom) as follows ~ "Racquet sizes, shapes, and weights are not limited, should be made for the whole wood floor, uniform thickness, smooth and hard. Floor thickness is at least 85% natural wood, clamps the adhesive layer in the Middle, the total thickness of the adhesive layer not more than 7.5% or 0.35 cm and the thickness of the adhesive layer of a total thickness not exceeding total floor 15%. "Adhesion layer is known as feed materials, using materials from carbon fiber, glass fiber, aromatic fiber and titanium ~ ~ ~ to the Zylon fiber is what's hot!
Feeding the main purpose of such ~a, strengthened floor. B, increase elasticity and strength of the floor. C, filter, ball slapping Shi Duoyu hand seismaesthesia, feel. D, bat light measurements! And widespread disadvantage is ~a, good elasticity, high ball control ability required to. B, soft mode burnt, seismaesthesia, feel the hands without hitting the wood. C, time on the ball in short, bite balls are not deep. Most of the play is not used to feed racket ball, is also based on the above factors!

Common charging structure is as follows:

(1). 3+2:

~ Effect of carbon, carbon Kong Fang, the representative photino

This kind of property is the thickness of the floor around 7.0mm, surface material for Cypress, core material is wutong wood mosaics, defendants were Nicko fiber material material, so that different materials on the difference in feel is great! General characteristics of this kind of racket is sufficient, take good, fit-play the ball or hitting action is unlikely to take force, to reinforce force shortage!

(2). 5+2:

Represents the ~Boll Spirit, water Gu Sun, YCA

This type of floor generally thin, not exceeding 6.0mm, structure the same as wood five clips between the surface and wood joined the fiber sandwich, handle obvious, for arc and arc-type game, but speed and strength than pure wood five clips a foot!

(3). wood handle feed:

A. thin or soft carbon:

Representative ~YSC, tile carbon

Structure is 5+2, carbon layer is thin or soft, carbon is not heavy, feeling similar to solid wood five clips, limited speed and strength increase!

B. deep carbon:

Representative ~ carbon Wang Nisi (STIGA Carbonix wood,5+2 structure), Yasaka Maxcarbon (7+2 structure)

Style little carbon layer trapped between the internal mezzanine, therefore, small and medium-sized carbon layer could not eat power power, hitting the strong carbon layer of felt!

C. non-sandwich type of feed:

Representative King ~ red and black carbon (Carbo 7.6), titanium 5.4 (Ti 5.4)

Feeding material to join wood adhesive glue water, making it increasing the floor strength and elasticity, like red and black structure similar to CL, titanium 5.4 structure similar to the OC, but under the special bonding glue, a faster speed, strength grade!

3. Cypress shoot classes:

Cypress mainly to Japanese cypress for mass, because Cypress unique feel to discuss, discussed here is of Cypress and cypress clips.

(1). Japanese cypress:

Representative ~Cypress

Juniper preferred playing straight ball friends, thickness from 9.0mm to take off, after the big ball era was 10.0mm to the mainstream, but new friends recommended thickness for the introduction to 9.0~9.5mm! Juniper single characteristic is that each racket is unique, the same type of Cypress, weights, line was almost point, feel different, so take very important, many experts are not easily changed!

(2). Chinese juniper single pole:

Representative ~DARKER Specal

Juniper single mainly in response to the birth of many direct and cross the ball friends, they are only in the Cypress feel unique to single-shot! Juniper single thickness is at least 9.0mm to take off, then stick the skin on both sides, it is too thick, so low dexterity is the drawback!

(3). Cypress clips:

Representative ~DARKER 7P2A

Clips from 3, 5, 7, 9 Favorites, but common 5 or 7 clips, thickness at around 7.0mm, bite balls keep Cypress properties, strength than Cypress so full!

Second, the rubber article:

This only discusses anti-adhesive (flat rubber)! The factory rubber style many of the various models, each ball and rubber has a different feel, it's hard to go into the discussion! Humble opinion is that "feels" difference to distinguish "of hard rubber" and "viscous rubber" is a more appropriate division!

Hard rubber to Japan and Germany mainly rubber, glue does not stick, better flexibility, speed and bite the ball way to rotate the ball to eat into the rubber sponge quality would be sufficient; adhesive rubber, on the contrary, as the name suggests glue adhesive, elastic speed is not good, but through gently eat glue adhesive on the ball that is quite a turn!

Hard rubber and viscous rubber hand preference, is slowly grew from the Age of Enlightenment, as Taiwan many children start to learn the rubber ball is sriver, was likely to be hit hard on the way! Friends on the Mainland habit of friendship 729 or boom, stick, was also an early train or play environment is so due to the equipment of rubber ball friends!

So this problem is actually used to like, rubber type went on to own preferences!

Third, the principle of matching:

1. principle of balance of soft and hard:

Floor with soft rubber simply relative, rather than absolute! Can be divided into hard skin, soft skin, soft bondedto bondedto Board-like consistency, soft soft skin into four categories, most of us would consider bondedto a soft leather and soft Board-like consistency of mix, is a complementary and balanced, a difference of main and sub!

(1). bondedto hard cover: (Hard Blade and Hard Rubber, ie butterfly composites and Chinese tackys)

For example, we often say the BTy feeding floor is not suitable for sticking hard skin of the continent is a bondedto combination! Continental rubber is usually too hard, while batting when eating to the strength of the fiber layers, skin is hard, fiber is hard, is to confront the tough with toughness of touch, feels good! Match day gel, such as the effect of carbon +Bryce or CL+bryce, elastic good, short stop time, fault tolerance is low, only capable of controlling the ball control ability to work very well!

(2). bondedto soft leather: (Hard Blade and Soft Rubber, Ie carbon blade or Clipper and Sriver/Mark V, the soft Tensors etc etc)

For example: effect of carbon +srver EL CL+F1, backplane hard with soft rubber can be neutralized, bite the ball control is better! But the rubber does not match too soft, such as CL+F3, when hitting the ball hit the sponge eat directly into the backplane, stepping out too fast, rotation insufficient effort at the end!

(3). soft Board-like consistency: (Soft Blade and Hard Rubber)

OC+ storm (Offensive classic + Hurricane, ie large headed thin 5 plys) and the third is a typical combination of soft Board-like consistency! Mix of hard boom out of three to cover the floor of elastic and rubber to increase the weight of strong hitting the floor when bending deformation, the ball is enough! (this talks about needing a hard and heavy rubber to induce flex into these type of blades)

(4). soft soft skin: (Soft Blade and Soft Rubber)

YE+F3 (Yasaka extra and F3) is an example of soft-soft skin! When hitting the ball as if into the cotton flowers here, a lot of bother, such a match batting strength is obviously inadequate! (Like hitting with cotton flowers, inadequete power)

2. thickness of sponge problem:

In choosing the thickness of the sponge ball friends, must carefully consider their own levels and playing styles, do not blindly MAX thickness of sponge to mix thick elastic sponge better, but also a good ball control, and when the ball is not easy to Board, feel die-burnt, invisible remake!

Japan and Germany of sponge rubber around I would suggest 2.0~2.1mm; land glue because glue less elastic, sponges can be a little thick, around about 2.1~2.2mm! This is combination of arc Circle quick-play suggestions! Short fast attack tactics can be thin; arc-ring on both sides can play thick! In addition, if cross or cross straight friend, anti-shot can take in hand the same thickness of rubber sponge or slightly thinner! (through google translate this seems to suggest close to the table players will get away with thinner sponge compared to long range players)

3. weight:

Differences can significantly affect the feel of the weight! For example, as a floor put two anti-adhesive, or being an anti, a long one against different in weight, joint effect against rubber hitting the side of the handle! So very important, rackets are too light, while smart power over the lack bat is too heavy but really heavy, my suggestions are below the acceptable range of pick, hitting power problem also is the prime consideration! (This is saying you should use the heaviest combination that is comfortable for you and that the rubbers on either side affect each other ie a light LP on one side will affect the hitting power of the Inverted on the other side)

So when choosing a floor will take an aerial ball friends of smart, my suggestion is that when rubber pastes should also measure weight, know the acceptable weight is approximately how many!

Yes... to sum up the articles above, here are the basic guidelines for picking a combo:

1/ Soft blade + Hard - tacky or not (FH)/Medium(BH) rubbers is the typical combo for beginners, developing and casual player.

Hard Wood/Composite blade + Hard Tacky or Medium(FH)/Medium or Soft (BH) is the typical combo or pros, advanced players and advanced players wanna-bes

Tongue

Here are a few things most p(l)ayers new to assembling a table tennis racket should avoid: soft-blade with soft&fast rubbers, very hard and thick composite blades with any rubbers.

(1) BTY T64 - BTY M.MAZE - BTY T05
(2) BTY T64 - BTY M.MAZE - DHS H3 Neo Provincial

From Bing "rubber (this here only discussion anti-rubber) is is divided into "astringent sexual rubber" and "viscous rubber" two class!"

From Google " rubber (here we only discuss the anti-adhesive) is divided into the astringent rubber" and "sticky rubber" categories. "

If you read both translations at once you can figure out the real meaning. From one or the other or combining them with some imagination. In this case "astringent sexual rubber" means non tacky rubbers LOL
