Hi,

Just Announced:

$3000 Paddle Palace Open
Non-Rated Tournament -- Saturday, July 24, 2021

I find a large non-rated tournament a curiosity.

Thanks.

Given the tremendous effort the USATT is putting forth for the non-elite members, I would say get used to it. Lots of resentment out there. Why pay sanctioning fees and force people to buy memberships if all they get is a rating?

Though I don't keep track of these things, I remember when a USATT club was prohibited from holding non-sanctioned tournaments.  I wonder if this will place this club in the "club non grata" status with the USATT.

Thanks.

Lots of club have non sanctioned tournaments through out the year. Nothing will happen to this club or any other club that decides to have a non sanctioned tournament.

Hi,

A very large percentage of clubs in the U.S. are not affiliated with the USATT.  The large majority of USATT-affiliated clubs do not hold sanctioned tournaments.  Their motivation for their USATT affiliation is to facilitate being readily found by those seeking play in their area of the country.

Anecdotally, it seems the large majority of non-sanctioned tournaments are held by non-USATT-affiliated clubs.

Thanks.
