I am banned. They send me email saying, I am TOO good for my category, so they paid me to stay home this year, and on top of that I will have FREE entry next year ... So, I decide to stay home ... Loss for them to see some spectacular games from me. Anyway, its all good. NEXT YEAR !

True, with an exception of 'fun' unrated ones on Saturday - sometimes it is Handicap, but it was Mini Table in October. Thanks for looking into this.

This thread is probably the right place for this question.

New year brings new USATT fee structure: higher yearly membership fee; more expensive (but unlimited) tournament pass, and I thought elimination of rating fees. But, I see that January Open has 10$ registration fee listed as usual. IIRC, it used to be 3$ registration plus 7$ rating fee, so - net price increase after all?

Don't get me wrong, I still love Westchester tournaments and it won't really impact me that much (having multi-year membership helps too) - just wondering if I misunderstood the nature of the changes.

Westchester messed up. The rating fee was eliminated as of January 1st. Someone over in that area should get in contact with them and remind them of the change.

The previous entry forms broke down the registration fee into two components, the $7 rating fee and the $3 registration fee.  Now it's just a $10 registration fee.  I suspect it's intentional and they're just keeping the extra $7 for themselves.  They probably figure people are accustomed to paying a $10 registration fee so there won't be any/many complaints.

That was my initial thought as well - and for all I know new rating system might impose additional workload on tournament organizers, so it might as well be justified. Still, it kind of defeats original arguments why new USATT fee structure is a better deal.

Let me guess - U2200, U2350, U2500, Open and O40? That would be 4 events on Sunday...

That's very possible as there usually aren't too many players in the O 40..

Olivier - Hopefully Jonas (the upcoming snow storm) won't mess up your travel plans.  Based on current forecasts there's a meaningful possibility that it's going to be major snow storm.

Don't jinx it - after the last winter, we here in New England are very sensitive to any talk about major snow storms... Ouch
