Kenta really broke Oh's heart... i was following the score line with my mobile throughout, it seemed to be an exciting match. However, at least Joo go past round 2. I thought he couldn't make it when down 2-1... |

Kan Yo, Sayaka, and Fukuhara are out. Mikie Tasei has to play Liu Shiwen again and I hope she does well. Amazingly Kaii Yoshida has an excellent draw. If he wins, and then plays the Winner of Zhang Cao, that could mean he makes it too quarters, where he will play Maze. I cant wait to see Kenta, Ma Lin match. |

Its from the Jin Kwon Lee match at around 22 minute ITTF vid. Maze looks so much better and comfortable in this game. I hope he can keep it up and create some upsets. |

Feng Tianwei will play Li Jie tomorow, Yu Meng Yu will play Liu Jia, while Sun Bei Bei will play Li Jiao.
Although Feng won Li 2 times before, I'm still abit scared. Yu won Liu once during 2006. Sun lost to Li once, so I don't have much confident in tomorow's Sun's match. |

The ITTV broke another standard by not showing us ANY of today's major upsets. Good job. |

You mean they should have known in advance that Samsonov, Ryu, Oh... would lose? Did you expect that? Kenta over Kara and Gacina over Kan Yo were upsets and can be seen on itTV. By the way, what's up with Crisan??? |

The ITTV broke another standard by not showing us ANY of today's major upsets.
It seems they only have cameras trained on 1 or 2 tables during the preliminary rounds. It just happened that there were no major upsets on those tables. (besides, upsets by definition are difficult to predict) I certainly would have liked to see more of the top 20 players, but I still appreciate them providing free access. Hopefully they'll cover more matches during the last 4 days. |

I mean this is THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. The matches are televised on more than one table. It's not that complicated. I said MAJOR upsets. Wouldn't you have liked to see Oh Sang Eun's match or Ryu's??? What is wrong with asking that over Kan Yo or Wang Hao? And by the way I would have LOVED to see Crisan's match. In case you asked what's up with his health, well he is tired and his back may have been acting up again. Thanks for the counter.

I just hope that some Euro or Korean TV companies filmed that - perhaps some of our Korean members could go and search Korean forums, see if they have the Ryu Seung Min upset or Oh Sang Eun match?

Sure it's the worlds, but this is table tennis not soccer, and it was the round of 64, and there are dozens of matches (+ women + doubles) - who's gonna pay for the cost of taping every match on every table? You don't even have that at the big tennis majors. I just feel we're all getting a bit spoiled here - can't any of you remember what things were like just a few years ago? All the whining and the sense of entitlement is kind of ridiculous. |

They televised virtually every match at Olympic Games, right? Of course, not every table is "worthy" but it was still not enough matches... |

2005 Shanghai, they recorded a lot of early round matches. I admire your capacity of sucking it in and not whining. I sure can't seem to do it. Maybe you could patronize us some more... go on.....

By the way, just to be clear, the thing that set me off was the ITTF's BS statement that they're going to break standards. They promised us something, hence the sense of entitlement, and they didn't deliver.

I meant not enough matches here at WTTC 2009 - I agree that ITTF is not doing its job...

The Olympics were great, but actually the maximum was 4 matches televised in parallel, with no more than 8 tables in use in each session. At these Worlds there were 16-24 matches being played simultaneously (yesterday, that is). At the Olympics the field was much smaller (and there was no doubles), and players like Samsonov, Ryu and Oh didn't even have to play a round of 64 because they were seeded out. In singles there were never more than 4 matches going on at the same time. And of course the economics of the Olympics are a whole different story from those of a puny TT worlds... Also, you guys need to distinguish between ITTF, the host broadcaster, CCTV, BOCOG for the Olympics... it's easy to blame "them" but who exactly are "they"? As far as streaming on ittf.com (as opposed to CCTV on sopcast etc.) is concerned, this year does seem to represent another big progress over previous years. The quality also is higher than last year. There's supposed to be 2 TV feeds starting tomorrow, and the number of matches played simultaneously will gradually decrease from 16 to 2, so that should help to make more people happy. That said, I too hope that Korean TV had some cameras there to capture the good and the bad of their athletes. |

Gencay Menge (TUR) vs Pathik Mehta (IND)
Gencay is my friend at the club. He is 19 years old but he is slacking a lot these days :). His performance at this championship is better than I expected so far.
