I am getting worried about ML, actually. Loosing to FZD and barely pulling off against LJK. But then, its just the Trials so will see what happens on the stage. But seriously, there is a lot of pressure on ML to deliver.

There are two things that may affect the WTTC slightly. The first is the lack of coaching at ITTF events. The second is that this event is in China and being at home should help both Ma Long and FZD.

If majority opinion becomes that ML's window has closed, I will put my money on him. He is a machine and if people become to dismiss him it will really relieve him from the pressure that has been crushing him.
Also, in a big tournament XX still has advantage over FZD in my opinion. XX has become a little like ZJK.. messing around too much, almost like on purpose. I seriously believe that nobody wants to start the next WTTC as the favorite. I know for sure ZJK and ML don't want that, looks like XX doesn't want it either, not sure about FZD only. It seems that FZD has improved a lot over the last several months. No one seems to be able to stop him except maybe ZJK. I agree that ML's window is closed as he is struggling to change his style at the moment. That is just not good for the senior player like him. On the other hand, ZJK seems to always have the capability to figure his chinese opponents out. If the final at WTTC this year is between FZD and ZJK, ZJK might still beat FZD with his experience and strategies.

Would be nice to see his backhand matchup with ZJK's. But the result in the previous round of trials (beating everyone except Hao Shuai, who only won 3-2 in a tight fifth) already pointed towards special things. It seems to me that barring luck or some radical backhand work in a closed training session with Wang Hao (unlikely to happen given the allegiances) or Dima (unlikely for other reasons), Ma Long's window has closed because this is like his 2nd or 3rd consecutive convincing loss to FZD after barely beating him in the previous 2 matches before that. Watched this live last night on CCTV-5. FZD's backhand was so obviously superior and dominated ML's to the extent ML had trouble getting to switch to use his forehand. And when ML went down the line, FZD curled the ball beautifully crosscourt into the forehand corner for a winner. If FZD plays like this, he's going to be world champion!
