This is me..

- An intermediate all-around player.
- Play close to the table.
- Loves to block with fh and bh
- Loves to hit
- One-wing looper
- With good ball placement
- Don't want to use Bryce and Sriver
- Used to play with Stradi blade
- Loves Desto F1 and JO Waldner rubbers

The Stradi is "out of service" right now and I still have the M. Maze. I just want to ask what rubber is good for M. Maze since I don't like the Bryce and Sriver. Or is the Desto F1 and JO Waldner is enough to do the job?

Then stick with what you love and give it a whirl on the blade

Sounds like a typical Chinese style player. H3 Provincial on the FH and Sriver EL/FX on the BH is my recommendation.

oops. Forgot about that. Maybe Dawei Inspirit Quattro for the BH or SXZY rubbers? Or 729-2 or 729-5

I've only used 729-5, and that is tacky. I hear 729-2 is non-tacky. They are decently fast rubbers. Both more suitable for the chinese style BH.

What is a Chinese style BH?
How's the 729-5? any comparison with other classic 729 rubbers?

Chinese Style BH: more blocking and short game flicks and ball placement.

I don't use 729 enough to make an accurate comparison of individual 729 rubbers to other 729 rubbers. Personally I use DHS rubbers, mainly H3pro. I have used various 729/RITC rubbers when I first started playing table tennis but 729 rubber just doesn't offer the solidness in the placement of the ball in comparison to the H3pro. But 729-5 and 729-2 are pretty good. I've tried both and although I still prefer H3pro on both sides, I think 729-2 would be alternative to Sriver for the BH

Yes, i think you should include why do you not consider Bryce or Sriver. Will help us help you decide i think.

But i agree. Just use the 2 rubbers that you mentioned you like. Should be worth a try at least.

Thanks for all the replies. I played last night for a couple of hours just to experiment the combination. I put my old JO Waldner on the forehand. It works well with the blade. The spin/loop was nice. However, I slightly changed my stroke because of my shoulder injury (rotator cuff). It hurts when I raised my arm high. On the backhand, I put my Globe 999 with 1.8 sponge. Short game is good but I'm having problems with my spin. Overall, it's a nice setup for my style. Played several nice games and being murdered twice by 2 higher level players.

I've tried using Bryce and Sriver before. I don't like how they feel. I don't like hard sponge on my forehand. The Butterfly rubbers I used before was Cermet and Catapult with medium-hard sponge. Their equivalent is the JO Waldner which is cheaper also. Also, Bryce and Sriver moist a lot when I tried playing with them. I don't know why.

Anyway, all I have to do right now is to practice.. practice and practice. This combination is ok for me since I don't compete anymore.

Sorry for my bad english.

If I may add.. I also did little modification on the handle of the blade. I sand it to make it more squared/cornered just like the handle of Stradi.
