Zhang Jike may not be 100% but he beat Yan An. His skipping the World Cup spoke.for itself on his form, but he can't beat Yan An convincingly and then turn around and blame form on losing to Ma Long. I do think Shanghai are the favorites.

I wouldn't say that Feng Yalan's hair-cut looks great for a girl.

(Long time ago, Feng Yalan beat Ding Ning in a pro-tour final.  Her hair-cut at that time was nowhere like her hair-cut now.)

In big events in the past, it seemed Wang Hao beat Ma Long for him. For the next big event Zhang Jike may not be that lucky as in the past.

History:  Ma Long beat ZJK 22 times and lost to ZJK only 6 times. (According to Ratings Central).

=======================================

If adding the most recent two wins (both 3:0), Ma Long beat ZJK 24 times and lost to ZJK only 6 times.

I think Ma Long has ZJK number, must remember that Ma, Zjk, and Zu Zin grew up playing each other many times.

Both players played bad but Ma Long did less errors. I was surprised by the low quality of the rallies. Maybe the worst match that I've seen between them. ZJK does not look good, so many unforced errors..

I think Ma Long returned to his 7 ply all wood HL-3 blade ? Any one else have any ideas ? It looks like the blue handle in these last matches but I could be seeing things.

I must say, I really am not a fan of Xu Chenhao. His serve is so illegal (hiding ALOT and the toss is practically sideways) and he yells at everything.

What a huge surprise!!!
I have always known that Ratings Central ranks Mu Zi very high, always in the top 10 (#5 -- #7).
Oh my, she just beat both Chen Meng & Li Xiaoxia.

I believe she also beat Li XX in the women's trial for WTTC as well,  not sure which one. Her game is lethal but coaches say that she is a bit causal and needs to improve her focus.

======================================

Mu Zi hardly played on the world stage.  She played in German Open twice in 2010 and once in 2011, and she didn't do too well --- RC had her rated at 2577, 2585, and 2654.

Mu Zi current rating is 2792, but after the current matches against Chen Meng and Li Xiaoxia are calculated, her rating should be 2800+.  She must have improved a lot.

Should China ever send Mu Zi to play on the world stage again, she will be the female player to watch.

Must be trails for 2011 WTTC, Lxx won the 1st place in the 2013 trails so as to get ticket to Paris in the 1st stage...

Mu Zi was degrated to the junior team in 2012 because of bad performance in the exchanging match between Junior and Senior teams in CNT. If she plays good (mostly against top players)she can beat anyone, if she plays bad she can lost to anyone.

In this year's Super League, she has won against Ding Ning, Liu Shiwen (in 2nd game of the semifinals and thus Bayi beat Shanxi to enter the finals) and Li Xiaoxia just now...but was not among the winnest players in the whole match series. So someone said she has a romantic playing style. Anyway, hope she have a better performance.

Mu Zi today is not the same Mu Zi 2 or 3 years ago.  Oh my, she beat Chen Meng (Janus700's video above.)
She has improved tremendously.

Will be very interested to see her playing on the world stage, and also Zhou Xintong.

Hope China will send them to play in the international arena down the road.

One forum member here said that Zhou Xintong never lost to a non-Chinese player.

(Zhou Xintong beat a korean player and several Japanese players before losing to another Chinese player in Japan Open.)

She will be tough to beat. China had Joo SH clones 10 years ago? Now we might see Korean/German has Zhou XT clones. Without clones, it's just impossible to practice and get used to her very unique style.

===============================================

Zhou Xintong is among the second tier players in China.  However, of late, China did send some 2nd tier players to play on the world stage. So, there is some hope for that to happen.

Zhou XT does better against defensive players, but poorly against attackers.  What is your assessment if she should face Fukuhara Ai (Japan's top female player)?  As you know, Fukuhara attacks all the time, non-stop, she never let up.

Zhou XT may eat choppers for breakfast, but I wouldn't necessarily say she is poor against attackers.    All the opponents she beat in Japan Open were attackers.      She is just not so effective against strong attackers who are familiar with her style.

Fukuhara (and Ishikawa too) was fortunate not to have to face Zhou XT at Japan Open.    Ai was not very good against specialty players to begin with.   For a long while she was no good against choppers but that has changed with her recent victory against Hu LM.     As an aside, poor Hu LM.... she lost to 2 Japanese players already, including the 12 or 13 years old Mima Ito.

You can bet the Japanese and everyone else are studying videos of Zhou XT with great interest.    But when Zhou first showed up at Japan Open, I would think no non-Chinese had good chance against her.   She is a completely different beast than LP choppers.
