Now for some thoughts on the other All Around I received from Charlie:

The Obeche/Ayous outer ply is similar in beauty to the Black Walnut (henceforth "BW") version (see my thread on that one here). Marked 85g, it weighed 85.3 on my scale. I paired it up with new sheets of 2008xp 1.8mm. The feel was perhaps slightly head heavy (xp is heavy), but pretty balanced.

It plays quite similarly to the BW version, but with a more noticeable "CRACK" sound when connecting with a solid hit. A beginner player tried it, and the first time he hit the ball hard he asked, "did I break the ball?". Once again, I was pleased with the all around play of this blade. It has a fairly similar resonance/vibration/feedback as the BW (for me that means, not an annoying I'm-playing-with-a-cardboard-tube sound/feel).

Simply a great blade... I think the BW wins out by a small margin for me.. but who knows, perhaps if I put the IQUL SV on this one I'd feel differently.

Enjoy the pics:

How is it?  Is it stiff or flexy?

Is it soft or hard?

What is the thickness?

Thanks.

This blade is being tested in New Zealand now and reports are that it's an excellent match for Tenergy 05.

I found it to be slightly flexy with a somewhat soft feel (these are pretty subjective areas of analysis though)

I passed this particular one on to a friend who really liked it so I can't measure its thickness now. Charlie would probably remember.

Now I'm spending more time with the Walnut version.

I thought it's a 7-ply looking at the side of the blade...

Inspired by this blade.  I order 1 for myself.  However, Since I play SP on BH and love a harder feel, I order walnut ply on BH, and leave the Obeche on the FH.  My blade does not have the fancy handle, but it is very confortable to hold.  I don't have time to test it out yet, but I suspect that it will play similar to the All Round clasic that I have, and with the harder BH, it will probably be the blade I always wanted Smile.
