    Posted: 03/20/2008 at 5:59pm
I just bought a Korbel blade which I will use as a backup for my Maze Off blade. I have been using Bryce Speed, Sriver and Almana sound and like them all very much. This time I would like to try some other rubbers which would be much cheaper.
I took a look at the Friendship rubber (Focus 1 and 2), could anyone tell me something about them?

What rubber could you recommend that are alot cheaper than Sriver? Any suggestions are well taking!

Thanks

For less than $30 altogether you can get 729 Cream MRS or Dawei Inspirit for your forehand, and LKT Pro XP or Galaxy Venus for your BH - at colestt.com or at zeropong.com.

It depends also on what you are trying to achieve there - style of game, weight of the rubbers, both allround or very offensive etc. Judging by your choice of previous rubbers you do controlled offense kind of the game... so... see my suggestions above.

Check colestt, he has very low prices on chinese equipment, I have an order on the way I got the cream MRS which is supposed to be the best chinese rubber.  I have IQ at the moment, its very fast and non-tacky if you like that.

I tried IQ on FH and Galaxy Venus on BH.  Worked fine except for one problem, these rubbers are heavy.
I also tried LKT Pro XP.  I think it was a little bit lighter but it felt dead unglued.
I got all these from Cole's.

LKT Pro XP is very light and it is true - in the beginning it feels a little muffled, but you need to give it some time to settle. Or you could try CTE to tune it up.

Also, both Venus and IQ are not too heavy if you don't go to the max. I personally would take 2.0 or even 1.8 thickness.

You probably mean LKT Pro XP Gold Dragon. It seems to be a good rubber but it's only available in 2.2 thickness, so I decided against it. But for many other players that should be fine. I read a review saying it was very good at blocking and short game, and good in topspins etc. For $14 sounds like a very decent option.

That's exactly what I did.  It really brought life to the rubber.  However, after tuning the rubber a few times, I became really really really sick of the smell.  I don't think I'll ever touch that CTE bottle again.

Mine are 2.0, but they were heavy.  I like heavy bat but on a  Dawei Quattro Allaround Hinoki (7 layters) which I think also heavy, it was too much.  I put on two old piece of rubbers (Mark V M2 and Sriver )and it felt just right.

Of course, my mind may play trick on me.  The difference may not be that much!

Thanks!

Ended up trying buying IQ 2.2 for my fh and The gambler six shooter for my bh. Cole told me that it was the closest to my regular rubber that used. It will be interesting trying out much cheaper rubber and if they match Bryce Speed and Sriver I will defently switch to the cheaper ones!

Cream Transcend is a good option as well, a speed upgrade over Cream MRS.

Ouch, my friend, ffx-me, had the IQ and later wanted to switch to the Globe 999 i think. If you're not satisfied with the IQ, try the Globe 999 next ;)

I'm using 999t on Saviga sponge right now and am happy. I ordered 999t on Quattro sponge to see if that will make any difference.

My current setup allows alot of spin on serves and also decent speed.

Should be a nice setup.

Thats because euro non-tacky rubbers dont suit me, I wend from H2 to IQ, bad choice, my serves suffered and the rubber was too fast.  Now I ordered a cream MRS, lets see how that goes

Does 999t on Saviga have any catapult/tensor effect? Because Quattro will have that, so you should be prepared.

Well you could also get it on quattro sponge, which seems to have more of that built in effect than saviga. I can even tension the sponge on for more speed if that's your preference.
