I never tried, but can say some...
Its thickness is not defined. Catalog says it goes from 9.5 to 10.0mm.
And costs 21000 yenes (around $191), that's the reason I haven't tried it.

I have a 9mm 83gm. Very good quality and plays similar to the Nittaku Cho Tokusen A.
The 10 mm Super Cho-Tokusen  is very hard to get.

Nittaku Cho Tokusen A is slower but has more control compared to Cho-Super Cho Tokusen 10 mm from Kokutaku (I have one weighing 80 grams). If this one plays similar to Cho Tokusen A, it means we have to choose this Kokutaku 1D100, considering the price is only 9600 yen. Nittaku has a much higher price. However it seems that this one is not heard very often, unlike the Nittaku Cho Tokusen.
Sydoz, do you mind to post the picture of the blade ? Thank you.

Agree. The Nittaku seems a bit slower but better control probably due to the fact that it is a little smaller than the Kaku. The Kaku Jpen square is 163x 135 mm  while  the Nittaku A is 162x130 mm.

I changed over to use the Nittaku just because I am tired of people asking Kakutaku WHO?

although tempting, i think i am gonna stay put for a while, finally it feels like I will go with my current setup( nittaku cho tokusen and Tibhar nimbus) for a long time. yasaka xtend was good but tad slow, timbus was just about perfect for me...looping wise, so much so i am in love with it.. Lol

Sydoz, thanks for the real nice pictures. Congratulations, both look very good. If you are in the same country with me, I would make offer for the Koku who.
Everest81, be strong against the temptation from TiehwenSmile. Cho Tokusen A is really very very nice blade, it is a very good choise. BTW do you use speed glue ?

Resistance/holding back, in this case, is futile. I know it as I've been there, experienced it or done that...I know all too well...

Tiehwen, it seems you realize that you are dangerous. I just wanted to know about this 1D100 when I started this topic but what I have in mind is actually Speed 90 squared shape. But now I start to think about it, I hope I can be strong.

Isn't that (1st jpen on the lists of Kokutaku jpens on Iruiru's webpage, as per the title of ur topic) a Super Cho Tokusen Bishu No. 1D100 9mm thick ? or Is it entirely diff. th'n/beast? 9600 jpy is not bad.. n Is it NOT a little brother of this below?
I also got the impression from reading lotta u guys' thoughts abt this Darker Speed 90 Jpen Sq. that these things r always heavy n the workmanship/quality is not quite there compared w/others?

Yes, I think the one on the picture above is the special (better) version of the Bishu 1D100. However the thickness of the Bishu 1D100 is never mentioned, I am assuming it is 9 mm. If I remember well, M/s Suzuki told me when I ordered the 10 mm version that the printing on the blade is identical to the cheaper version, so she said just check the thickness. On the label it is not printed 10 mm (unlike the aabove picture).
About Darker, they have superb workmanship, good quality, and the weight is normal, just like any other manufacturer. My Speed 90 has very nice grain, you can even see the oval shape of the grain on both sides (the thickness) of the blade. For this reason I am thinking to get another one in square shape.

The one on the left is Cho-Super-Cho-Tokusen.
The one on the right is Super-Cho-Tokusen.

Cho-Super-Cho-Tokusen is 10mm (model #1150, for square-J) and Super-Cho-Tokusen is 9mm (model #1116, for square-J).  However you can find some that are thicker and sometimes closer to 10mm, if you're lucky.

I believe before KKT officially labeled 10mm as Cho-Super-Cho-Tokusen, some retailers might have been selling those 9mm+ Super-Cho-Tokusen as special ones and dubbed unofficially as Cho-Super-Cho-Tokusen.

If you really want to have a Cho-Tokusen, find one from the older stocks.  The lettering is green as this one.

Gknight, what is the difference in play between the Cho Super 10 mm with the Cho Tokusen 9 mm ?
Can you compare it also with Nittaku Cho Tokusen A ?

Sorry aeoliah.  I have not used any KKT Jpen blades yet.  I am still trying to procure them.  Hopefully sometime this year I can get my hands on 3 or 4 of them.  I do own a Nittaku Cho Tokusen A.  But it's part of my collection that I likely will not use it any time soon.

I am planning to get at least 2 Cho-Super-Cho and 2 Super Cho.  I probably won't play them at all and just keep them in my collection.  Hopefully I can travel to Japan sometime this year so I can handpick them myself.

Hey man, don't scare Gknight away now..LOL, I have a very good friend in Japan, I asked if any of his friends in Japan are 1-ply hinoki enthusiasts, sadly none of them are even tt players, let alone Jpen enthusiasts. I am still pushing him to expand his circle, maybe he will find someone...

I got those pictures from a friend in Japan whom I am currently training to become a Hinoki enthusiast like me.  Only if he can get his lazy rear to the shop and pick up stuff for me.   On one side Japanese guys are very responsible, but the flip side is they are also very non committal.  I think I just have to go over there to kick his rear.  I am trying to be sent to Japan by my company so I don't have to pay the trip.  I have been placed on the list, but I'm not sure if it will happen or not.  In any case, if it dose happen I will let you guys know and we can try to work out something.
