well, we have been seeing a lot of QIN ZHIJIAN lately, but i can't imagine he would replace liu, cuz, like, what has he accomplished??

and kong is the ass't women's coach and apparently a good friend of liu, so maybe he'll get a promotion soon...

if a change happens, it'll more likely be after this coming worlds...

Possibly? Who knows, it's so hard to tell what the Chinese are up to with their inner political moves. With Wang Liqin still playing well it may be a few more years before he retires, and when he does he will need some big position to fill in, and you either bump out Kong or Liu from the spot as head coach of something.

Maybe it's just because they are all so good they don't need coaching? But really, it could be because the only good people they face are other Chinese and they dont show up for those to stay neutral.

We would love to see that too - unfortunately, the ***s from local TV or from ITTF (I don't know who to blame) only recorded a handful of matches from that round, WH vs RSM not being among them.

If we want to talk about theory, I have a new conspiracy theory that the Chinese was concern the world will be bored if Wang Liqin kept sweeping all the championship, so at the end of 2006, they told him to relax a bit, play around, EJ'ing around - and gave the others a chance.. This supposedly last for 2 years until 2008, but WLQ got a little carried away and won the 2007 WTTC so they double his jail time to 2010. This year finally Liu Guoliang told him that he can be himself again that's why he played so good.. LOLLOLLOL

Regarding Wang Liqin win this time, he probably has the luck on his side such as Xu Xin was out of the game too early, Xu Xin could be more threat to WLQ than Ma Long.  Ma Long could be sick or had an off day as we think (I tend to agree that Ma Long has an off day by judging at his warm-up with Wang Liqin).  After beating Ma Long and Xu Xin was out of the picture, I don't think anyone was strong enough for Wang Liqin.

Regarding the game between Wang Liqin and Ma Long, I think Wang Liqin was better on that day, even though he got more nets or edges than Ma Long but his serve returns were better than Ma Long.  Ma Long had some pop-up but Wang Liqin was solid in serve returns.  Consistency was another factor, Ma Long tried to rip some winners and it costs him some points.  Wang Liqin's backhand was so solid, and his forehand was still dangerous.  He's truly a great player.

I do feel bad for Ma Long though.  But Ma Long is still young and has a lot of time to prove that he's one of the best.

I'm Wang Liqin supporter too.  I want to wait for Wang Liqin for more win before I can say that Wang Liqin is back to his game.  We'll see how it goes in the Kuwait Open.

Wang Hao is really not up to his game.  I think it is partly that he's spoiled, his behavior after being No. 1 really shows that he did not have the humble of the great athlete and now being overweight really tells us more about him.  Hopefully, after being beaten and going down the World ranking will make him more mature and solve his problem to be back to his game again.

Xu Xin could feel very sad right now and he's still young enough to learn from his mistake (whatever it is) to become No. 1.  He could be emotionally tired after the Team trial but if he's not up for this tournament, he probably should rest to compete in Kuwait Open but I guess he's still young and has a lot of eager after beating a lot of well-known players.

Anyway, it's just my observation and opinions, I think I would behave like Wang Hao or Xu Xin if I could be as 1/100 as good as they are :)
