    Posted: 06/24/2010 at 11:15pm
I am looking for a stiff but not hard blade... ie has some feeling.

I play SH... prefer to loop-drive / hit with my fh and block / flip on the bh. I like to play aggressive but would like to have some control in the short game.

Please help me out with your suggestions. Thanks!

I play more or less the same style and I find Senkoh 90 a perfect partner for my game. Soft ,stiff, fast with superb control I like it so much, that I am going to buy me a second one

The German TSP balsa's are defiantly one of the very few best blades in the world for most people but since they are pretty hard to find, pretty expensive and mostly because no pro's play with them. It's doubtful anyone is ever going to listen to that advice even though it's 100% correct. But if you did decide to try one the 6.5 is the normal speed one (off-) and that's the one to get. The one called the Fitter is head heavy with a unusual handle to blade setup, perhaps better for looping than the normal weighted one but other than that they are built in the same way (with the balsa grain running ply to ply rather than the normal way) I believe they are the only blade in the world cut like that

There's a guy In Melbourne that sells them (or used to), I can't quite remember the name of the shop, but maybe Double K ? or something like that, I'm not sure if they are still in business but he was all about the TSP balsa's, I think it was his favorite blade since he always wanted to sell them. Some phone numbers show up if you search google for Double K table tennis, so I'd ring that number and see if they are still around. The only other place I know that you can get them at least the Fitter, is from an ebay shop in Germany

How is the TSP 6.5 in the short game? Is it bouncy?

I have all those blades and they are nothing special.

In fact quite weird blade that 6,5. No touch in short game. no sensibility. very difficult to find a rubber to match.

i have seen a good defensive player using 3,5.

About fitter, both the fitter off (lacks control and little head heavy) and all (lots of control but i do not like the feeling. it is stiff and feels quite hard like koto) are not bad but there are better wood blades in the market.

stiff and softish, one of the best wood blades is the stratus powerwood.

The innerforce AL is quite fantastic.  It is both soft and stiff at the same time.

P700 is another one... 7-ply, fairly stiff but medium soft with good feel...

What is the p700 like in comparison to the ymlc?

Are they fairly similar blades or quite different?

The P700 is a very nice 7 ply bade that loops well also.  P700's come in a 6mm thickness which allows a little bit of flex, and has a soft feeling.  Blocking with the P700 is not as good as some of the faster ALC and carbon blades since the P700 has more dwell.  Looping is nice, but you're not going to get blistering speed.

try the joola wing passion fast, it's a 9-ply and has a nice soft feel to it, pairs well with new gen rubbers
