Ah ha! I found it.
Upon some research I found a shop on aliexpress that sold one new in the box. Looks like it’s around the 1980’s. Very cool. Can’t wait to try it out~~ Classic 1982's Old DHS Vintage Collection PF4 C7 Pimples Long Handle Table Tennis Blade Ping Pong Bat Racket 80's classic DHS - for real ping pong lover. Old collection but never used! The rubber may be aged but you can replace the rubber and play it rather than used for collection only! Forehand Rubber: DHS PF4 C7 Pimple long |

sorry to bump an old thread but I just got this in the mail with a lot of old bats for my church’s ping pong set up.
Maybe this is an old 08? It is 7 ply. Rubbers are PF4 and C7. Pretty cool I think! |

Do you know what the top ply is? It doesn't look like most of the commonly used light-coloured woods, like limba, koto, anegre, etc.

if you wanted something like a clipper wood but faster and has a better finish, try the adidas challenge speed blade

Thanks, guys.
I went to the shop today and was surprised my heavily sanded Clipper with 2 pips both sides weighed 160g. Even at 100-110g this blade might be too heavy for me and since you guys mentioned not as lively I don't think it'll be a good level up from my Clipper. Edited by Re1Mu2R3 - 09/09/2013 at 8:41am |

i think a lot of older generation cnt players used 08 for its speed and power which soem of the forum members here do not know about. i have used both versions and i can say that the anniversary special edition is still sub par with the national version which my coach is still using for 27 years now. there's some sort of a hollow feeling on the new 08, the older one is more solid and faster. i just wish they make an updated version of this but maybe a lil lighter

Very disappointed with the new one. It is not as lively and too heavy at 120 grams. Very different blade from Clipper.

Very much interested in the Newest version of this blade. How does it compare to Clipper? Anyone can comment its performance for Short Pip play? |

Just got it. Compared with the original, the head is slightly bigger and handle a bit longer too. Make it pretty heavy at 117 gram. Due to the heavier weight, it feels a little more solid. Didn't play competition but I would say it is pretty close to the original. Just a bit too heavy.

@Lixiao your 08 seems to be a later version it doesn't have the fixture holes and blood glue.
It doesn't need to be like the older the better as CPEN 08 is too heavy for RPB, the one I have is about 115g, even LP with 0.5mm sponge will make overall weight more than 180g, I can only use OX so it is playable.

yeah you're right mine is 87 grams but feels heavier and more solid(I think because of thickness and chunky handle). But stating that Armstrong and Yinhe are in a cooperation is a SHOCK to me. I thought Armstrong was standing for traditional japanese craftmanship. Do you have any pictures to illustrate what you found?

Cheng Longcan and Deng Yaping both used the 08 as well, and to great effect I may add. Just so we're all clear, this is the blade which Yogi is referring to. The 08 The 16 Also the 32... |

No problem, thanks for your info. I did find it from a Japanese site. However, at 80 grams, I don't think it will be as solid as the 105-110 gram DHS 08. Also interestingly, Yin He logo was found on some of the Armstrong blades, seems to be a cooperation between the two.

you also buy an Armstrong Hi-level blade it's 6 ply basswood and imho quite similar to the DHS 08 in terms of playing characteristics. Solid, heavy, fast and great for flat hitting!
