Hi guys,
I really like my Rakza7 as my backhand rubber. I am playing with 2 MM and this thickness works perfect for me. The only serious cons of this rubber is that with my "top-sheet type of backhand" I tend to kill the rubber in 2-3 months. It took at least twice as long to bring a top-sheet of XIOM Omega IV to the same state (6-7 m). Anything that plays close...? What I like about rakza7 on BH is its balance. With equally long/short movement you can generate solid spin, even out of position. This rubber is really nice on chops and flips - again, quite forgiving if the movement is decent, not perfect. Let's say XIOM Omega IV was also quite forgiving but it was very poor- Not enough bite, variability - absolutely plain for the opponent. |

Well it's hard to beat the durability of Xiom so maybe Sigma II Europe? Or if you liked Omega IV maybe Omega V is an upgrade that fixes your problem with IV

Never played with Sigma but tried it several times from others on FH - got the impression that Sigma's are much faster than Rakza7, much more aggressive, unforgiving, significantly harder sponge, longer curve, harder top-sheet.
I am looking for similar but longer durability.

I had the same durability issue with R7. I'm currently using Rakza X and it is awesome.

True that Sigma is faster but the topsheet is only hard on Sigma I. Sigma II keeps the hard sponge but has a softer topsheet but I can see how Sigma II might not be the right alternative to Rakza 7. At this point have you considered maybe Tenergy 05 or 64? I'm not sure of another modern rubber that lasts as long as Xiom or Tenergy. |

I would also recommend Rakza X if you like R7. It is similar but better grip which means more control. Looks durable so far.

Rakza X users, how long do you use it?
How is it speed wise vs. Rakza 7? Regarding Tenergy: T64 has too long curve on spin for my BH and T05 has bad block for my BH. Not to mention that my objective to change Rakza7 is to essentially to improve durability/price ratio. Don't think that any of these two will do it, really ;) P.S. based on the description I would think T80 would be even better choice in this category but... probably will fail in durability/price ratio as well

Your worries are over, same playing characteristics on BH but longer too much longer durability is the donic jp1 or the jp1 turbo , awsome on BH blocks, counter, shop, a must try trust me. ( jp1 turbo has lower throw than jp1)

I found baracuda too soft & mushy, definately softer than R7 soft.

Donic sounds quite promising, at least in durability they are very good. Can you elaborate on hardness and vs. rakza7? My last donic was M2 (on FH) but it would be too hard for my backhand and probably not forgiving enough. How about all these JP versions? |

I have the Calibra Tour M Max on my BH of DHS PG12. Excellent control for blocks, pushes, touch shots and counter-hitting. Spin is very little as practically no tack. Don't bother. I would not buy this rubber again. Rakza7 has way more spin & everything else. |

It's only been available about two months now so it's too early to give a life expectancy. After 30-40 hours it seems new. |

30-40 hours of what? :) .....coz there is no rubber invented yet that can look new after 20 hours of my training, regardless if it is FH or BH (and I think I am crazy optimistic here, I think). |

Don't know about p7 but el-p felt different to me: it felt like 42 deg hard whereas R7 is about 4 deg harder. |

At this point my options:
1) Staying with Rakza7 2MM. I am pretty happy with it except that I would prefer something a bit softer (not as soft as Rakza7 Soft) 2) Trying RakzaX - 2MM, although I am a bit concerned about the speed and untested durability. 3) Donic JP2 2MM - Sounds like a very good option. Lasts long, good top-sheet, good price. 4) Xiom Vega Pro 2MM - Just because it is cheap now and I tried spinning with it on BH for 15 minutes and got OK+ impression. Good curve. 5) I was considering Stigas but...got the impression that they lack grip on top-sheet, all except Airoc, which also has very mixed reviews, in terms of consistency and spin. Do you think if I go 2MM JP1 it will not be too hard sponge Vs. Rakza7?
I know someone have mentioned they are both 47.5 but Rakza7 really does not feel hard rubber. I know M2 feels too hard on my BH Edited by iakovka - 11/29/2014 at 8:05pm |

I had combo baracuda on FH and rakza7 on bh and I found them very similar. In speed and control the same, baracuda has higher arc and better durability. Try out baracuda.

I think they have almost the same spin and control, however I think Calibra Tour got some more speed and a better touch in the outer layer of the rubber.
