There's a NYTimes article on testing and finding the best tennis racket using high-speed cameras and a testing court.

Wouldn't that be amazing for table tennis?  Wonder if it could be done cheaper for TT given the smaller playing area - put a bit of a rest to all of the EJing.  One can dream!

Yeah, but then you're going to have to find the best rubber or rubbers (if you're a denizen of The Dark Side or a fh looper bh short pips hitter) to put on the best table tennis racket, plus the best booster if you're a looping fool booster behemoth.  Nightmare city!

Are the tests valid ?

They suggested a set up similar to what the OP was currently using. That suggest to me that the test may be unreliable since you're going to play better with a set up your using than a different set up until you get used to it.
