i play with hellfire ox...
rubber slow good control medium deception i mount this rubber in 3 different blade Nittaku Violoncello defensive blade good control but low possibility to switch from defence to attack Nittaku Goriki offensive best blade for LP and the result is very very good coz i can play very active... easy to open.. very deceptive effect and possibility push ball easy Nittaku Goriki Super Drive offensive blade... too fast... degrade of control but maximise deception effect. At the last best configuration for me is the second. |

Hellfire is a medium pip not a long pip.

If you look on the ittf for rubbers you will see it is NOT a long pip rubber.
Also on the Dermaterialistspecialist site who makes it... is a little fuzzy on the description. Sometimes reacts like a long pip does not make it a long pip. I have 4 sheets of this in various thickness and i can tell you it is not a long pip. Check it out. |

I just read the back and again it says: it has disruptions effect of long pips.
also it says: Hellcat is insensitive to spin and enables offensive strokes of a modern medium pimpled disruption rubber. THE ITTF DESCRIPTION IS THE FINAL WORD AS TO WHAT TYPE OF RUBBER THIS IS. Medium Pip |

Right - only one problem: original question was about Sauer & Troger Hellfire , not DMS Hellcat. So... I'll leave it here.

Hellfire made by Sauer and Troger is a Long Pip. Hellcat made by Der-materialspezialist is Medium Pip. The OP was inquiring about Hellfire not Hellcat. Hopefully, that helps clear up Dr. Cho's confusion. Also, I played with Hellfire for about 6 months. I generally agree with Ragnolo...slow rubber, medium deception and spin reversal. Decent ability to hit attacking shots, but this is not the rubber's strength. Best for close to the table blocking and chopping. |

Long pips, schlong pips, medium pips--wrong name. Hellfire should be reserved for an ultra speedy, super spinny, trampoliny spring spongy inverted, you know, 14.5 on a scale of 10 rated for spin, 13.3 on the same scale for speed (17.4 and 15.6 respectively if boosted).
Long pips should be named something like Landfill, Salad Wagon, Bottom Feeder, Love Canal (for those who remember) or if especially macho, Swampfire. Der Meisterspieler vom Nurnburg Edited by berndt_mann - 02/16/2017 at 8:56pm |

Good control, decent deception, fair attacking ... I am using this long pip for past 3 years. I am thinking to switch ... Not sure yet what :)

Personally I prefer the Challenger SRT-8 over the Hellcat, but each to his own

I am using Scylla Sword OX and love it. I am a hitter with it, more than anything else. A friend has told me that I would get more velocity using Hellfire. I'm pleased with hitting now, but the friend has always given me good advice regarding LP's.
I am not at all an expert on LP's, but I believe that Sword is more of a hard pip and the Hellfire is softer. I was told that hard pips are better for hitting. Any thoughts? |

True statement. Hard long pips are better for hitting and may have good control on chopping, but reversal will be minimal.
As for soft long pips, better for chopping, block/chop, but control is not that great as is for harder pips. Hellfire is good for me, but I have decided to move to little harder pip. Still in search though ... |

Thanks for the information, it's very helpful. If you haven't tried Scylla Sword, you'll find it's a very good hitting LP. At $9 a sheet it's a bargain. It's also very durable. |

I have tested quite a few LP's recently and have quite a few new and slightly used pips. PM me if you are interested in doing some business, old friend. |
