Hi guys, I need help on choosing a fh rubber, a play modern defense, now ive got tackifire C 1.7 . I want a rubber which i could sometimes chop with but mainly for counterloops and loops, i was wondering whether a chinese or european rubber? any help...thanks alot

well it's too hard and the spin isnt as great as bty writes about it...plus i got only 1.7 sponge :( and i dont want to try it again with a 2.1 because here it is too expensive..i was thinking a friendship of some kind, no? thnx..

globe 999 is pretty good for that, and its cheap. even 2.2 will be great for chopping with.

Thanks homuz...but will it be fast enough for counterattacking far from the table? I heard it was soft so wont I have to really put alot of strenghth into it ? Yeah and it's gonna be on a JooSeHyuk blade..

I think the hurricane 3 is pretty good for chopping. Generally tacky rubbers are above average for chopping correct?

Yeah i think the tackier the better for chopping, and i was thinkin bout the hurricane, probly gonna go with it..but dont like that everybody says too heavy and not so fast..but i guess i can live with that, no rubber is perfect..thnx for the reply :)

No, i speedglued a couple of times my tackifire but i didnt like it much, felt fast lol and just weird for me...but if I buy the hurricane i probly will start, hear you have to glue it right?

Not if you're going to chop and hit with it. In the end there's gonna HAVE to be some tradeoff between looping and chopping. Personally I have found through my own testing and through what I've sold that a tacky topsheet on a soft but springy sponge around 1.8 provides the best balance.
I think H3 would be ok too. I'd try to find a batch that wasn't too terribly hard. Cream mrs is nice too. I know gcollins prefers cream on a 1.8 transcend sponge. |
