why is it so "brown"? too much sealant, I'd say....is the top of handle shaved/sanded for your thumb to rest on comfortably? are there many dents/dinks around the edges?

The only two dings are very minor and shown in the first photo. The handle is sanded at the top for the thumb to rest comfortably.
