Hi everybody,
I'm just curious about the sponge thickness of the rubbers used by top players. Most of the people say that it is max, what do u know about it ? Thanks. |

I'm sure different players use different rubber thicknesses. Whatever thickness suits there style of play.

Yeah everyone says max because the players could control it and max is the fastest. Choppers is another story.

Well the thinner the sponge the more defensive and the thicker the sponge the faster.

i think that if you checked the pros the would be playing stuff in the 2.2 range and not many playing max

Most pros use thick topsheets and hard sponges, hence the 2.2 thickness. The balls they deal with a far spinnier and harder hit than the ones we deal with, so they can't use ultra thin topsheets.
