I don't speed glue, only use ordinary glue. Yesterday I removed rubbers from my older blade and noticed that after frequent gluing from trying different rubbers, the wood surface is not as smooth as I first got it. I used acetone to clean the surface. It was OK but I wasn't satisfied. Please give me some advice about this. Thank you.
Btw, I thought about using sand paper but I was afraid that it would destroy the outer surface of my blade. My blade's outer surface is thin. Should I use it? What type of sand paper is the most suitable?

your blade has a build up? odd...it normally all goes on the rubber.
I suppose you could just lightly take a LIGHT grade sandpaper to it....

@lildudjds: Thanks for the input. Sorry, the title is misleading. I do not mean glue build up like the one on the rubbers. It is kind of uneven sticky residue all over the surface of the blade (I used to change rubbers often and never bother to clean the blade surface, just apply new layer of glue). When I applied acetone and rubbed with with my tumb, it peeled off, similar to when you erase pencil writing with a rubber eraser. I think it's partly glue residue and lots of dirt. The reason I want to clean it well is because I sell the blade to my friend and I want it to be representable.

Try lacquer thinner. It will take off most anything.

Just be careful not to accidentally use too much thinner on your blade.
If you use too much, it will soak into your blade and weaken the glue holding the plies/layers of the blade together. |
