hey guys, i finally played with my new galaxy rubber, must say, not as great as i expected for my game. I used 3 layers of speedglue and it still needed more handspeed then my palio cj8000. Pimple geometry is longer so contol won't be as good, so i can't control even 60% of it yet (when looping anyway lol).
serves are killers with the sticky surface, and chops are good. i can't really tell the throw angle, sometimes its high, but sometimes it just goes really low (yes i'm adjusting for incoming spin). so heres just a small comparison for me personally against the cj8000 and the galaxy rubber. both with 3 layers of speedglue. speed: palio cj8000 brush loop: palio cj8000 impact loop: galaxy smash/hit: palio flip: galaxy control: palio cj8000 throw angle: can't really tell, but i think galaxy is a tad higher. thats all for now. if you guys have had diffn't experiences, let me know please! thomas lee |

"Pimple geometry is longer so contol won't be as good" Can you explain what this means? Thanks! |

The pips are longer, so although you can produce more spin you have less direct feedback.

You're comparing a brand new sheet that's fairly tacky, plus you got the 42degree version. I think it will improve with a few outings. However, I do think palio is probably a very good rubber so I'm not completely surprised it would compare well. I'm getting 3 in plus a japanese sponge version plus a topsheet, so I'll know in a few days.

It took me a couple weeks at about 3 or 4 hours a week to get it completely broken in, but I don't glue at all. I got the 40 not the 42 so mine is also a bit softer (still firmer than I expected though). I think it's an amazing rubber, although I've never played with the Palio. For me it brush loops better than the Cream MRS I'm using on my other side, but doesn't impact loop well at all, it becomes more of a direct drive. I think it's just a tad too tacky. It serves extremely well, but I can only seem to chop or push with it on my backhand strokes. I'm still experimenting with which rubber I'll use on forehand/backhand, I flip a lot depending on what's comming at me. It gets tricky. I'm thinking I might even replace my Galaxy with the Higher I have sitting in my bag. Right now, though, It seems as if the Galaxy is better considering i'm a non-gluer. |

QUOTE] Completely break in maybe 10 hours of PT. Reasonably broken in maybe 3 hours and 3 gluings. |

London, happy its working great for you. If i really can't get it to work, i can always just send it to you since we have the same blade.
Cole, i'll play with it a few more times next week, and i'll put alittle bit more glue. i think it's a pretty good rubber, just that i can't control it. cheers |

He got the red, which is 42 degrees. 2 deg harder. Have you tried the -3 on 1.5 cannon yet? |

I'd be interested in trying the red sheet. I'm afraid that all I have to send you in return would be the same sheet in black, max, 40. If you're interested, that is. |

hey cole, i tried it today on the bh side. great for flippin, throw angle is alittle lower since the sponge is thin, good spins on serves, chops. can loop decently with it. speed is great when hitting, but looping its alittle slow. all in all, its a pretty cool bh rubber. i may switch to this when i switch rubbers next time since i'm looking for a good short pips, and this plays like a spinny short pips kinda...

Anyone know if the new Mercury and Venus is better than the 3 star II? I know that the Venus and Mercury are tensioned also as well as newer rubbers. Thought they might be improved. Cole I know you got the Venus in and liked the look of it. I also know you got 3 star II. Do you think the Venus will play better unglued than 3 star and how you think they would compare? |
