Not sure if this statement is true. Back in 1982, I believe the Norwich Union Masters in Toronto had a better higher ranked group of world class players than this upcoming one. Let's see who I can remember. Cai Zhenhua, Xie Saike, Grubba, Jonyer, Klampar, Kalinic, Zoran Kosanovic, Eric Boggan, et others. There was another Chinese player, a Japanese player, maybe a Czech. Can't remember them all. |

This looks like a great event but I agree with Snakefish that the "Best Players to play in Canada Ever" quote is misleading. I was also at that 1982 Masters event and besides the above names mentioned (though I don't rember Klampar being there), I also remember Mikael Appelgren, Milan Orlowski, Li Zhenshi, Dragutin Surbek, and Gabor Gergely.
