It sure would pee me off to play that guy. Look at (03:29). He makes a big Cho after benefitting from an edged ball.

Tiny, he was Choing at everything nothing haha. If a fly hit the ball mid-air and knocked it off flight he waz Choing. He was serving right out of hand on almost every serve. It wasnt really a serious official game.

lol, maybe that's the custom in china? I mean to cho on edges and mistakes.
I think maybe popular players like zhang jike and ma long would do it too, they just have been disciplined on the international customs and manners to appear more polite to the whole world. the other guy looks pretty good for a 2300 ranking. Edited by puppy412 - 01/01/2014 at 9:58pm |

interesting that in the match in china he is actually tossing the ball on the fh serve
there is a lot of physics going on here though :) Edited by in2spin - 01/01/2014 at 10:30pm |

I played him and checked his racket years ago.
He was a nice guy who really loved Tt. He enjoyed to make dramatic gestures to mainly have fun instead of distracting opponents. He served with smooth side without tossing high enough. His LP side would be considered as illegal as many pips were broken and missing, which made it more irregular and unpredictable. You don't need to be 2400 to beat him if you know how to play that style. On the other hand, a 2500 could lose to him if you just want to loop through him. |

I've watched several videos of the guy and he is about as good as I have seen pushblockers who do not attack. I hope to be able to play with him one day.. I'm sure that it would be a fun match.. (probably not for those watching though)

My thinking is the same. A nice guy who love TT. I don't mind people who cho to celebrate every win point. Only the ones who cho and roar like they own you, when they have a chance to put the ball pass you, really get to my nerve . |

=========================== That will be a great video to watch, should it happen - just like when he played the Chinese LP master (黄建疆). |

I watched the first video (40 year TT diplomacy) and Youku (against Master LP Huang),
it seems that his does raise right leg a lot in first video (maybe for entertaining crowd), because in the serious match against China #1 LP, he did not raise right Leg when blocking. |

He is very nice indeed, very serious about his TT playing time. Was told that he is one of the pips legends in GuangZhou. He still travels quite a bit...just for TT. If you have a full week of TT itinerary line up for him, he'll go anywhere=) When I warmed up with him & watched his matches last weekend, his serves seemed legal to me. (Toss, height, & etc)

It really bothers me that someone that serious of TT does not toss ball when serving. From the second video, it appears that he might also serve when his opponent was not ready. That is why his oppenent needed to waive to him suggesting him to wait to serve before he was ready.
I have seen quite some players like that, who care win or lose a big deal, but play with very little TT manner. To me, that is not a good player.

Kindof99, good observation on his serve before opponent being ready. He did threw in that a few times when the match was tight. But it is actually common among senior players.

How did he serve in a tournment with umpires? I guess he will toss. So it is a choice for convenience and advantage, not that he can not do it.
