Wow, the first 5 points of the first set put that guy at 2700+ immediately.  Amazing stuff.

Now I remember where I saw that guy before - he plays in the Australian Open (one of the Koreans that dominate the event).

Single FINAL :

Look at 3rd set, IMO, clear side. Umpire called it edge ball. What do you think?
FYI : Talked to his parents a bit and found out that he's in a Korean 2nd national team. And had beaten Oh Sang Eun once.

I deliberately did not take a second look at the 'edge' to put myself in the umpires shoe. If the ball did clip the table then from the angle of the stroke, I agree with the ump that it was an edge.

On second look the umpire thought it was shot from inside the table hence the call of edge but indeed it looks more like shooting from outside so it could well be misjudged.

Yup, his jersey in Korean on the back say Kim, Jang Ho, but I do not think I have ever met this one or ran across him while in Korea.

Justin lost in this video. They are both very good. Both should have at least rating of 2650.

He is not in the korean  national B team, to be in Korean B team you need to be national ranked in Korea from 13-20 because 1-12 belongs to the National A Team.

Cool.

Even not being top 20, he's still a really good player.

in response to a different post- I think Timothy Wang could get him if he was playing hot. But this guy seems a legit pro level player. I think 2650 is a bit low. For comparison though, I think Eugene would beat him with some comfort.

He lost to Kai Zhang yesterday at the Westchester Open - close match though.  The 2650 rating is about right.

Great player and fun matches to watch. The guys from MDTTC put up a good fight. The people that are commentating next to the camera made me roll my eyes a few times during the videos.

Thanks for sharing these!

Korea tt magazine or you can have a look on the website KTTA. My friend who is a coach at daewoo pro club confirmed that Jang Ho Kim is not in the national team.

I played Jang Ho Kim 3 nights before he played this tournaments.  I wasn't impressed with they way he played, but apparently, he is way better than I thought.

I think Jang Ho Kim is in the Junior National Team.  Can someone check?  He is only 16 or so.

Nice! I was just wondering who would win out of those two, didn't think I'd find out.

edit: I figured he was higher watching Greg Lett's video of him against Justin Han. Has anyone else ever noticed that the videos on his channel are just ever so slightly sped up? Or am I just crazy? I was watching the video last night, and it looked so intense. But then I noticed that it looked to be a little faster than it should.

I'm super impressed. Solid short game, very quick, powerful and consistent. I can hang with him for only first set....the rest? he murdered my long pips.

=============================

I think Li Kewei should give Jang Ho Kim a run for the money - another LP defender vs an attacker.
(Jang is not in the same league as Eugene Wang for sure.)

Li Kewei has played our club's tournaments before (Charlotte, NC).  No player could remotely touch him.  The best players couldn't get a single game from him, much less a match.  He beat all his opponents  3 to 0. (Not sure if he got sweat or not.)

I guess he got tired of winning here, so he did not show up in our most recent tourney (Octo 12 & 13.  Results have not come out yet.)
