in my humbling opinion:

unless it's really "hiding" the ball, otherwise the 2 umpires don't bother. Remember, the important is the game flow. it must goes on. Too many calls could stop the game momentum. Tongue

OK :)  having come back after a long time the serving rules are all new to me, but there was one that clearly showed that the ball being thrown backwards was a foul.  I guess if the other player isn't worried about it they let it slide.

The table tennis service rule is one of the worst rules in professional sports history. Every umpire has their own interpretation, so, it all depends on what they feel like calling.
