I don't have long fingers, or bigger palm. I used to use a smaller blade (Schlager Carbon Blade) , and recently I moved to a defensive blade (Butterfly Joo Se Hyuk). In the earlier blade the shoulder was very less. The new blade I have has more shoulder, and is wider than the previous one. I have some problem in controlling the new blade because I hold my palm (handshake V) close to the shoulder, also I get sever pain in my pinky (finger). In the earlier blade I did not have any pain, and was easy to control. Any idea to ease the pain my pinky finger? Can I sand paper the shoulder, and make it somewhat equalent to the previous one. |

I would say sand the blade to ease your grip, but don't sand more than that.

the manufacturers usually pay a lot of attention to how the grip would feel in hands. even if u wanna sandpaper it, make sure u do it very delicately so u won't change the effect of the blade. I once did this to a STIGA CARBO OVERSIZE and made it somewhat smaller at shoulders, it became a total disaster!!! Plus ST grips normally give u a more comfy feeling for the baldes with wide shoulders!!!

I sand papered the shoulder - looking good. What would someone with a small palm do if the blade is wider?

Sanding is the only thing we can do. Just make sure that you sand it only where your fingers feel uncomfortable and not more than that.
