Hey it's me again
I'm very very very very glad you helped me out with my pendhold-paddle now the next: my father also wants a new decent paddle. He plays a bit allround/defensive. I found this: http://tabletennisequipment.dandoy-sports.com/en/product_info.php?pName=stiga-optimum-mp *a 66% off sale, maybe this rubber can be used in the paddle you compose Best Regards, Kris Stallenberg (saxum) |

I'd suggest you contact colestt.com or zeropong.com if you are in the US. If you live in Europe, maybe our European friends can help...

I use Stiga Optimum MP on two of my rackets on the bh and I am very happy with them. I find they are not very sensitive to incoming spin, but can still generate decent spin if you make good contact. Control is great and blocking is exact and easy (for me). I like the feel of them.

If your dad has played for a while, then he may have an idea what he is looking for.
Ask him first!
(BTW, I have tried Stiga Allround, NCT is this case, yes, liked it.)

I don't know how proficient your dad is after three years. With coaching, I've seen someone go from nearly 0 to 2000+ in a little over three years. But I have some friends with no coaching who have basically remained at ~1000 for many, many years. Skill level has a bearing on what equipment one should use.
Technically, you could get him the exact same thing as you got, except instead of a penhold version, get him a shakehand version. If he doesn't care for hard, tacky rubber then just do Mark V on both sides. Otherwise, the Stiga All Around Classic is a nice choice. I don't know anything about Stiga rubbers, so you'll have to take other people's advice if you're set on using them. But to help you narrow down your choices, either a shakehand version of the Yasaka Gatien Extra or the Stiga All Around Classic are great blades. I suggest Mark V on both sides for rubber, but if you prefer the Stiga rubbers then go with what people have suggested. |

-don't buy the synergy tech rubbers, they were designed to be used with a special Stiga Glue that was outlawed during the "booster ban".
buy two sheets of Mark V (2.0 and 1.8) or, if cost is the most important factor, get two sheets of optimum MP (2.0 and 1.8). |
