On a more serious topic, I can never remember which way to remove my rubber w/o the wood splintering. Is it left to right(or v/v)? Or is it top to bottom(v/v)? or is it just best to do it slow and diagonal? Another question...is there a way or removing the layers of rubber cement from the blade w/o sanding? b/c I just love my blade too much to sand it.

rub the rubber cement off the blade with your fingers. seal your blades (with for example joola sealer) and you can pull off the rubber from every angle without worrying about splintering.

tpgh has the right attidue - do the work early by sealing the blade good. A puny bottle of sealer costs peanuts and lasts for a dozen or more blades. Once sealed right, you have much less worry and an easier job.

We always used the good ol-Ronson lighter fluid. It is hydrophobic (so wont affect the wood), and evaporates off in a few mins as well. I dont reglue any more though.
