    Posted: 10/08/2008 at 5:38pm
Hi guys, I'm new here, so something about me: I play tt for 4 yrs (I'm 18), my style is close-to-mid distance FH looping -since I switched from thick balsa w/frictionless LP (about 1/2 yr ago). My coach is always telling me(read 'scream' Dead) that I had bad footwork, I'm slow & so on.. (I used BH block on whole table)  since I switched to classic both-side-soft rubbers I have big problem on my BH so I must play FH on most of the table, so my footwork & fh topspin are improving fast imho. I did lot of EJing last months and I find out nothing(only that tacky rubb suits me). My biggest problem is blade. 896 is 'just OK' but nothing special. I need blade with super soft feel, flexy and thin with higher level of vibratons, speed OFF- to OFF. I'm searching for blade like that for a long time and trying different equip, but it only damages my game.
Please any suggestions?
p.s.:I'm sorry if this is double post, Search doesn't work me.

Any Avalox 5-ply (P500, BT555, BT550) would work well for you.  Designed for looping, soft feel, relatively inexpensive(50-60)?

Stiga Offensive Classic........ and the WRB version for extra vibrations.

Yasaka Gatien Extra.  Classic looping blade and 1/2 price of Avalox.  A little slower than BT555 though, but great bite for awesome looping spins.  A touch smaller head shape than Stiga OC.

hi 729 .... that makes us 2, with exactly the same problem ..although i didn't shift from LP.

i was researching on this as well .. and at the same time trying to improve my footwork.

from posts of silvalis/silver (whom i consider very knowledgable with blades) i figure probably BFY MIZUTANI JUN  is promising for wha i am looking for.

but i am not going to try an expensive blade unless i know for sure i like it. closest to mizutani seems to be michael maze.  and cloasest to maze in my price range seems to be galaxy k5 and k6.

i have ordered galaxy k5 hoping that it will be easier for me to shift from a very fast blade that i use currently (galaxy T-8).

will let you know if this improves my backhand and adds some teeth in my bh loops and drives.

The Michael Maze Off is a relatively soft (for being a arylate carbon blade) blade which is good for looping, though..

Michael Maze could be a good looper blade, but I would not consider as soft blade. You need to differentiate between soft blade and flexible blade.

Stiga OC, all the way, but needs to be combined with nice rubbers to fully unleash his potential imo :P

I think carbon or ary/kev/ara/ZL+carbon kill the true feeling of the ball. Yes, avx blades are in my fucus, same with OC, I didn't thinking about yasaka blades yet and I've never payed with any. I can't find any good comparasion between 500/550/555/700 so I don't know which one is the best for me. I think OC isn't very expensive so I leave it to 2nd round(something pulls me to avx, maybe intuition or what)

Ehrm.. That's what I just did, isn't it?

The Maze is stiff, but still has a quite soft feeling..

But I know that it's not soft!

Rossi Power Light, Petr Korbel, Yasaka Extra etc. are good, soft, looping blades..

According to your post we have the same taste in blades and rubbers. If I were you I would stay away from all the composite blades. All the all-wood blades in this thread will be fine (Stiga OC, Korbel, Jonyer, Avalox...), I've tried them all, even played with some of them for a while. Having said that, my personal fave is Yasaka Extra 3D which is a really flexible blade, yet it can be very fast on loops. Also, it plays very well with chinese style rubbers like the ones you  use.

my thoughts exactly, it's soft and an off- blade.  combine it with sriver fx and it's a very good combo.

Go the DHS Hurricane King - loopers dream :p

Or else - BTY Korbel, Stiga Energy Wood, Offensive Classic CR.

Loops dream with a soft flexible feel? Stay away from composite blades.

Hi 729cent, I noticed that you play with the galaxy 896. If you are looking for a good looping blade that does not cost a lot, then you should consider the galaxy W-6. I just got mine and I have 45-50 blades, and for the price i paid for this one was a steal. It loops great and im pretty happy with it.

I would say the Yasaka gatien Extra... its a classic. Cannot go wrong. Inexpensive. Great looping blade. I used it when I played c-pen and regret selling it even though i dont play cpen anymore.

PS. why you gotta go and tease the HK son? Come on now.. It loops beautifully if you can tame the dragon inside. lol.

i'll also add, that the hinokis are also great looping blades, although they can be very fast also, but the Jonyer 5 ply hinoki is corectly an Off- type blade.  The BalsaCarboX5 is a great looping blade, very light, but is a solid OFF blade.

I second this recommendation. Great quality construction, fits what you are asking for. It also just happens that I have the same setup as cougar: W6 with 999t on the FH and IQ UL on the BH. Love it. :)

I played with OC last season, it's a good blade, but I switched back to my good old Extra 3d. OC is thinner and lighter but feels a bit harder, it loops and blocks faster, but has less "feel" and control (at least for me). I don't like it's sound, very loud and hollow "plonk" on all shots. I don't think the CR WRB is a lot different. I suppose it's a bit harder and lighter, but more head heavy, so it will be a little faster. I haven't tried kiso hinoki or all hinoki5, but I have a Jonyer-H. It very good with fast rubbers like Bryce. The blade is very light, and feels a lot softer than OC. I'm not sure how it will play with chinese rubbers like yours. I guess it will be pretty head heavy, as the blade itself is very light. Don't know about Boll Spark, I'm sure it's a good looping blade but I guess it's a lot faster and stiffer than the rest of your choices, not really in the same category. I still reccomend you Yasaka  Extra series (or Galaxy W6, which is pretty similar and cheaper) over Stiga OC. Hinoki blades feel quite different so it's a personal choice. My other options would be Korbel and Tibhar Samsonov alpha or premium contact.

I would recommend the 729 V-5 professional carbon I'm using it with Mark V max on FH and sriver on BH the blade has good speed and a super soft feel it's also very cheap (only $14)
