i happened to be looking at joergen persson's website and he mentions that there will be an olympic warmup match between sweden and denmark tomorrow around 6 pm in denmark.
i went to the swedish tt federation's website and i think they will stream it live at the site below at around 6:30 pm in denmark: http://www.pingistv.se/ sweden will play persson, lundqvist and gerell and denmark will play maze and 2 other guys whose names i can't remember. also, at that website you'll find a link to archives of swedes playing in the ECL back in the spring. anyway, enjoy!! |

It would be much apreciated if someone could capture and upload this one. I noticed that they recorded the whole (lengthy) warm-up and everything which I don't really want to have to watch.

sweden will play another warmup against germany on july 27th. hopefully someone will record those matches as well.

Asmussen is from my club, so I'm really interested in this match - and I think that he would be too...

Go to pingistv.se and just wait for the end of the streaming (or skip to the end) and there will start a new stream with the match between Jens Lundqvist and Jakob Asmussen!
He also plays doubles at the end of the first stream..

I counted maybe 50 people were in the hall watching the match.
The majority of them appeared to be senior citizens.(Except for members of the teams, correction, some members of the teams)
Can this be the future of the game in Europe?
Is this where the ITTF is taking the game to?
I would expect after the raft of changes the president has been introducing to see a robust excited crowd watching an internatonal match among top teams in Europe.
Maybe its time for the 50mm ball.
The 1 foot high net.
Banning sponge rubber.
Removing harmful solvents in sports drinks.
I can hardly wait.

You didn't see the whole place in that video. It was sold out and there was about 400 people watching. And it surely would have been more people if it were possible!
It was a great show and I don't think they could have done it any better!
I see you live in Jamaica, I would think you have a bigger problem than the european countries on getting interest!

How are you man!
No way there were 400 people in that room.
The camera angles were pretty panoramic unless 350 people were in the roof or watching the match on closed circuit ina soundproof hall nearby!
And where were the young people?
Of course we have a bigger problem with getting interest than the top countries in Europe (evidently not that much bigger of a problem!)
When you won the singles back in 2005 look at the size of the crowd!
Whenever former world champions such as yourself and Jorgen play you should always expect big crowds.
Never settle for less.

Ehrm. It's a tiiiiiiny difference between the world championships and a private national team match. (not sure if this is the right term, but you see what I mean?)
There were 400 people there, believe it or not.. A lot of younger people was there since HBTK (Halmstad Bordtennisklubb) had a camp at the time..
Btw I'm doing fine, thank you. And my name is Vegard, not Werner..
And when you are talking about "the singles back in 2005" I presume you are referring to my under-1700 win in the Mega cup in Oslo? I saw about 10 people I think. And all of them were Swedish and cheering for the other guy.
