yes. reactor tornado is extra cheap, extra fast and extra spinny. Not best durability, but who cares for the price?

Gambler Outlaw. It's also among the fastest rubbers around (euro, jap, chinese whatever).

If you list Outlaw, you should put Pride and Strike in too... Pride is as fast as Outlaw, but Pride is not very spiny...
How fast is Tornado compare to outlaw? Never try Tornado myself. I only bought pride because it's so cheap... :)) Edited by dragon kid - 08/28/2010 at 3:31pm |

I would vote for Outlaw as well. IMO, Outlaw is a bit faster than the Tornado...

My coach used to play Outlaw on his BH and he plays far from the table. He said that it is fast and powerful enough far from the table but not much spin. That's why he switched to T05 on his BH...

...till this statement i used to think ppgear gives honest suggestions independent of what he sells!! i'm a little upset.. that he classified outlaw and quattro(which he sells) in same category. anyway... i think other than outlaw, 729-05 is fairly fast, and heard palio hk series is also pretty fast in higher hardness range Edited by debraj - 08/30/2010 at 1:06am |

Actually I stopped selling months ago. Also, I've basically only used the equipment I sell (why pay retail for items I can't get at wholesale?) so that's the domain of my expertise. I've never tried the Palio HK series, so how can I recommend it? I can see why it sounds like a biased opinion, but the reality is that this is the only opinion I can give out of the selection that I've tried.

I understand... and i agree its nice of you to suggest from what you played.
but if you played with outlaw, and also with quattro... do they even remotely come close in speed? i felt quattro would need 12 layers of glue to come to outlaw speed. i am not saying outlaw is a great rubber ... i didn't like its non linearity etc... but speedwise this rubber definitely competes and probably even beats some of the fast tensors. also i didn't know ppgear doesnt sell anymore... so i was wrong about bias.. just disagree with his opinion.

I didn't say that they are equal in speed, I just said that they're both fast (especially compared to tacky rubbers that I'm used to). I didn't find them incredibly far apart on speed though. I guess everyone has a different experience though, and it depends which sponge hardness you chose on the Inspirit Quattro. The only rubbers I've used on my forehand are CJ8000, Cream MRS and Cream Transcend, and I've experimented with a bunch of tacky rubbers. Outlaw and Inspirit Quattro are definitely faster than the class of rubbers I'm used to. Cheers.

I nvr played 729-05 so I dun know how fast it is. However, I played with Palio HK Biotech 36-38 as well as 39-41deg and they are not as fast as Outlaw. Yet, one can generate spin easily with Palio HK Biotech series rubbers. |

Going to throw my hat into the ring here.
I have played quite a bit with Gambler Outlaw, but I think that Galaxy Venus 2 ($15 at TTXOnline or Megaspin) might be faster. I put them both on a Galaxy K-3 blade and new the sponge on Venus 2 has a lot more power than the older Venus. It only came out a month ago, so there have not been many reviews. The sponge is softer than the older Venus with less tack (but still tacky). When looping, it seems (to me) faster than Outlaw, but it might have a bit less spin. Disclaimer: I sell both Outlaw and Venus 2, I just wanted to add to the conversation.

Outlaw is one of the fastest rubbers I have tried, unfortunately, it's spin doesn't match up with the speed, so it is hard to keep your shots on the table with it. Almost reminded me of short pips, great speed for flat hits, but very hard to loop drive with it.

none of LKT rapid rubber is really fast.
Inspirit quattro ;) I saw different sheets. Its speed is very dependent on topsheet thickness. But even the thinniest topsheet does not produce extra speed, but it is nice. Thicker topsheets are sloooow. I think I used to put around 5 layers of speedglue on it. I doubt there is cheaper and faster rubber than reactor tornado. (I had 40 degree version, there are softer available as well). The similar speed can be found among harder BW2 sheets. 729-5 is quite slow, it works great with even 1 layer of speedglue, but with water glue, it is not good=fast. Among chinese rubbers, there are plenty rubbers of zero speed to medium speed, but the fast rubbers, they are rare. Generally fast for chinese rubber means hard sponge. Oh, palio HK around 42 deg. is slow ;) Even AK47 with 50degrees is slow. It seems, that I think that all chinese rubbers are very slow rubbers. But there are few of them, which are good. The biggest problem is trying all the new rubbers and coming from these fastest japanese/german rubbers back to common chinese rubbers. The contrast is enormous. |

Is Gambler Outlaw one of these rare fast chinese rubbers? I need a relatively light and soft fast rubber. Not more than 40-42 degrees. If harder sponges mean faster rubbers then they are not suitable for me.

imho the ''new 3rd generation'' outlaw feels like a medium firm very spinny japanese rubber(nothing like tenergy though), compared to coppa speed it's faster, spinnier and higher throw.
If you like medium soft on euro/jap scale don't go with Outlaw.

How is Outlaw compared to Sriver and Bryce in terms of speed and spin? I am sure it will be softer than my 44 degrees Red Diamond so the hardness wouldn't be a problem. And probably it won't be too soft.
