I dont know what to say.... I know that Wi Chih Chi, Chiang-Hung, Chen Chien-An are using tbs in the past.... I dont think they switched. Do you? I wonder if butterfly japan decided to say that every player from taiwan with alc is using a TBALC for profit.

I know a lot of people here hate butterfly, and they still have a good stranglehold on the men's market, but as you will see in my post about the women, most of them have dropped Butterfly from their setups.

(accidently posted this is the now defunct thread. I decided to repost it here. The women's is coming shortly)

Albert got about 10 of that weight from europe, supposadely it's a custom weight and you can't usually get them that light, Du grabbed one and Albert was telling me about it, I had broken my clipper cr, so i got one like Du to feel cool lol.

Stiga Clipper CR WRB, Tenergy on both sides. I'm not exactly sure which tenergies, but most likely 05, 64. Another interesting development, Hirano Sayaka switched to a clipper too!

You seem to beinterested in what sort of blade Waldner uses.  I have been on the same pursuit myself.  I found on this website a thread that probably details the most information about his actual blade than anywhere else.  It is in a thread titled, "a long path to perfection....", by forum member - Andredd.  Perhaps you should read that and contact him about his findings.  Evidently he came across a blade that ACTUALLY HAD BELONGED TO JO WALDNER, and he recounts that it was different from the ones sold on sites.

Here's an excerpt from that thread --

"In 2002 there was an Open tournament (may be Finland Open) and there was Waldner playing in that tournament. After the loss to Kreanga, he abandoned the tournament, went to the hotel and to the end of the day were pretty drunk. When he woke up next morning he found out that his bag with all his table tennis stuff were gone. And that the story for waldner ends. But not for Russian table tennis players)) It appeared, that Waldner forgot his bag somewhere and the group of Armenian players took it. And there were Armenian player which played in Russia, and he brought all that waldner stuff here in Moscow. There were his shorts and t-shirt, shoes, and 2 Waldner Senso Carbon. So one of that blade was given by that Armenian player somebody as a present, the other one was sold to one reach man for  1000USD and it appears that that man took table tennis lessons with my friend. He saw that blade and decided to buy the same and make a changes in the grip.

From my friends words, that Waldner blade was pretty faster then regular one and had different shape and had a longer grip.

I've  decided to take all necessary measures to get that original Waldner blade and so my quest for that blade began."

-king_pong

I believe the special shape of the blade is called the Waldner shape---it's basically egg shaped, tapering at the tip. The handle is longer because the wings taper into the top of the handle at a more horizontal tangent and also higher on the handle---the wings end where the top of the handle begins to bevel. This is in contrast to most blades where the wings typically end below the edge of the bevel.

What I don't understand is why hasn't Samsonov's blade supplier (Tibhar?) provided him with a custom handle, or does he rather have it wrapped with grip tape?

If I read the other threads correctly, WLQ was using the HK, then briefly tried the TBS, then switched back to HK? And now he has a blade that does not look like the HK, but with the HK handle on it. As another member has speculated, it could be a TBS with a transplanted HK handle.

just tell me who you want, and I should be able to tell you. I really need to buy the April takkyu oukoku, since that will update all my knowledge. Also, you were on point about Fukuoka's equipment, in another magazine published by takkyu oukoku, Takkyu Gear, her paddle is featured in it (they feature four player's and their equipment each year)
