pg3 is a monster. with tensor rubbers it is unusable for close-to-table looping (timo boll style). unless you are a pro of course :). I think you should definitely try stiga offensive classic and stiga clipper wood and choose what's best for you. the former is faster in loops (both opening loops and power loops) and slower in block, drive and rally. Stiga offensive wood could also work well for you; it is an inbetween. Ignore stiga offensive CR and clipper CR, they are hard, not like koto blades (pg3 and pg2) but almost. |

I'd give H3P a try if I could get a dependable supply of them. I tried an H3Neo for a day and didn't like it, might go back but I've also heard that you really need to boost H3s for them to behave nicely. Honestly, I don't want to spend an hour boosting every week. I just want to play :-). And maybe it's because I came from a European rubber that was MUCh softer (Inspirit Quattro Ultralight) but it took me about 1 month to get used to the Thor's. And only after 11 months do I feel like I really truly know the rubber. Thors are a difficult rubber to use - I think because it has so many gears. The rubber is super dead if you don't put any energy into your shot (so passive blocking isn't good at all - but I get some insane drop shots with this rubber) but is incredibly powerful if you put your body into it. The result is a low throw (lowest throw rubber I've ever used) rubber with LOTS of gears. |

Worked on Hurricane Hao III, didn't work on Acoustic cpen - it just, quite unexpectedly, bottomed out. |

I believe that most TT equipment dealers do not specify the "stiffness" or "flexibility" characteristics of most blades. There are probably other characteristics that are discussed in this and other forums, which are not specified by dealers. What is the best way to get these for each blade? TIA for any replies.

Actually, http://www.tabletennisdb.com/ does show a rating for "stiffness" but i am not sure how it was measured or how accurate it is (?) Or are these ratings exclusively obtained by user input/feedback?

Any idea which blade would have the following characteristics: 1. As thin as possible. 2. 2X Carbon minimum, 3X preferred. 3. Softer outer plies. 4. Weight less than ~95 grams TIA for any replies!

Try a Juic Stellan Bengtsson Alpha. It's a really good blade and very reasonably priced.

Just a question , but why Carbon?
I use a Galaxy W6 and it works AMAZINGLY well on this blade (My attacks are fast enough that sometimes I intentionally slow down my attack in fear that a quick block will change the favor back to my opponent). I would think it's carbon brother the Galaxy Woodking would perform just as well. They're availabe at ColesTT. |

I'm back again. I've bought Stiga OC, it works with Thor's very well. But I'm not using it atm. I had a sheet of (三九)999T rubber at home for some time. I decided to make a bat for trainings with children so I glued that rubber on my unused PG3. That 999T rubber is tacky, rock hard sponge. My first idea was it will be unplayable. I wasn't able to evaluate it after playing with children but I used that bat in a game with guys from the men's team later. It was a coincidence, I just forgot to switch back to my main blade. What a surprise! It rocks... PG3 + 999T 2.2mm on fh and Blitz max on bh has become my main setup. I think I've found a perfect ballance. Fast flexible DHS PG3 blade + slower tacky rubber 999T (if Thor's was 10, I'd rate 999T 7) = perfection. Great spin, good speed. The biggest difference comparing to Thor's is controll, it is easier to play every stroke for me. And the best thing is that 999T costs less than 5 USD. Thank you Seguso for bringing me to PG3!

Works exceptionally well on Xiom Zetro Quad. Spin is simply monstrous (the spinniest setup I ever knew so far), speed is great and so is control. I know (from forums and own experience) that XZQ pairs great with most rubbers, but this combination is simply great.

My experience: Thor’s played like crap on ~6-7 other blades, but reasonably good on Viscaria Light. Bad however far from the table, but that doesn’t matter much.
